Job summary

Quikrete Cement is seeking a Project Manager to provide engineering services and manage capital projects aimed at improving cement plant operations and profitability. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage scope, schedule, and cost, and ensure safe, compliant project execution.

You will coordinate contractors, train plant personnel on new installations, maintain documentation, and drive continuous improvements in a 24/7 operation environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical, chemical, electrical or civil engineering.
  • Previous mechanical engineering experience in heavy industrial 24/7 plant operations.
  • Strong conceptual and operational planning, project management, budgeting and cost control skills.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical information, drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Developed studies may prompt investments or modifications with support from contractors or personnel.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
  • Builds relationships with plant personnel and contractors; exercises autonomy and initiative.
  • Prepare capital project scope, cost estimates, justifications, and cost control tracking for budgetary compliance and startup/operation of projects.
  • Coordinates and leads field representatives, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality, schedule and cost control.
  • Ensure successful project execution through studies and modifications.
  • Promote internal controls and protect company resources; prevent fraud.
  • Promote new technologies and concepts for competitiveness.
  • Provide information and training on new installations.
  • Provide leadership to department employees through coaching, support and delegation.
  • Maintain documentation for vendor access.
  • Provide training to plant personnel on new equipment usage.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting of issues.
  • Collaborate with plant production and maintenance teams for knowledge transfer and RCA.

  • Coordinates and leads field representatives, contractors, and suppliers to ensure correctness, quality, and timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure successful project execution through studies and modifications.
  • Follow internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources.
  • Promote new technologies and concepts for competitiveness.
  • Provide information and training on new installations.
  • Provides leadership to department employees by directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating, as the situation requires.
  • Maintain required documentation for vendor access.
  • Provides training to plant personnel on new equipment usage.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.
  • Participates with plant production and maintenance teams to provide engineering resources and knowledge transfer, including RCA and other problem-solving tools
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical or civil).
  • Previous mechanical engineering experience in heavy industrial 24/7 plant operations.
  • Strong conceptual and operational planning skills, project management skills, budgeting, and cost control methods.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interpret technical information, structural and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through personal standards of conduct work, work ethics, project initiation and ability to delegate.
  • Demonstrated commissioning leadership skills.
  • Above average computer skills.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office Suites, Project, and CAD.
  • Leadership capabilities with supervisory/managerial career aspirations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work as a part of a team to ensure continuous improvement in their functional area as well as the overall plant operations.
  • Must be able to meet unscheduled responsibilities in a 24/7 operation.
  • Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.)
