Job description

With a strong, diverse, and exciting backlog of municipal engineering assignments, RK&K is looking for self-motivated and highly collaborative Project Managers to lead a variety of municipal water/wastewater infrastructure projects. These projects involve feasibility studies, engineering design, preparation of construction documents, and construction management. As a Project Manager in our Water/Wastewater group, you will have the opportunity to deliver complex and rewarding projects while marketing to municipal clients in the Hampton Roads and Mid-Atlantic regions from our offices in Newport News, Virginia Beach, Raleigh, and Charlotte.

Essential Functions

• Develop project deliverables, including coordination of engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Solve complex problems, provide technical evaluations, and assess costs and benefits of alternative solutions for water/wastewater clients.
• Mentor and develop less experienced/junior engineering professionals, establishing growth opportunities and building project delivery teams.
• Manage a variety of existing and potential water/wastewater facility projects.
• Manage and deliver results on municipal projects such as conveyance, sewage collection, stormwater management, water rehabilitation, and more.
• Negotiate and manage project scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for water/wastewater projects.
• Utilize internal systems for project management, quality control, and quality assurance.
• Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and subconsultants to pursue, win, and execute water/wastewater projects.
• Identify and create project opportunities by networking with potential clients, including public and private utilities and related agencies.
• Support office and firm leadership in marketing and pursuing new work leads, primarily focused on water/wastewater municipal clients.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in consulting engineering within the municipal Water/Wastewater industry, with responsibilities including project delivery and business development.
• Existing municipal/private engineering client relationships and/or the ability to develop and nurture such relationships.
• Motivated to find creative solutions to civil engineering problems.
• Proficiency in communicating technical information effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
• Project Management Professional Certification.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM.
