Job Description

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a senior level Project Manager to join our diverse team to lead and manage projects for Los Angeles clients, such as MWD, LADWP, LABOE, LASAN, and LACPW. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing water and wastewater projects, providing solutions for complex issues, utility management, business development, capital planning, design and engineering, and construction phase efforts.

The ideal candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Detailed Description

Our Los Angeles office is currently seeking a project manager to join our team. You will play a key role on client service teams pursuing, managing, and executing utility projects for the water industry (water, wastewater, and stormwater). The successful candidate will utilize their consulting, technical, and project management expertise to help ensure successful client relationships with our key clients in Los Angeles. This person will also work closely with firm-wide technical experts, marketing team, and senior leadership to strategize, capture, and successfully manage and execute water projects.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage scope, schedule, and budget; negotiate agreements
  • Facilitate multiple, concurrent large and small project delivery and execution (including managing subconsultants) on time, on budget, and with expected quality
  • Interact with clients, project managers, discipline leaders, and staff to ensure work progresses as per schedule and budget, and meets quality standards
  • Engage and cultivate effective project teams to support understanding and delivery of client needs and expectations
  • Simplify complex topics for non-technical audiences and prepare summaries for executives, clients, and stakeholders
  • Lead change management and risk management for large projects or programs
  • Perform quality reviews for planning, engineering, administrative, and construction tasks
  • Manage permitting and project documentation
  • Prioritize health and safety; ensure compliance with company and client safety programs
  • Supervise and mentor team members
Desired Skills and Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or related); MS preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in large municipal water/wastewater utility engineering
  • PE license in California or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and in teams
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Proven project management experience on large municipal projects
  • Strong planning, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven attitude
Salary Range

The starting pay range for this position is $130,000 - $177,000, depending on skills, experience, and education. This range may be adjusted in the future.
