Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a senior Project Manager for tunnels and trenchless projects based in Fort Collins, CO.

You will lead medium to large projects, mentor engineers and geologists, and drive technical excellence across multi-disciplinary teams. The role requires 15–20 years of underground construction experience, PE/PG licensure (or ability to obtain), and strong skills in geotechnical design, field investigations, and project leadership.

Qualifications

  • PE or PG licensure or ability to obtain on hire.
  • 15-20 years of underground construction and design experience.
  • Expertise in tunnel and trenchless civil projects; geotechnical investigations.
  • Strong mathematics, soil and rock mechanics, and materials knowledge.
  • Proven leadership, client communication, and mentoring of junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tunnel and trenchless projects, plus related geotechnical work across the U.S.
  • Develop proposals, manage scope, fees, schedules and invoices.
  • Oversee design calculations using GeoStudio, RocScience, and FEM tools.
  • Direct staff in data collection, reports, design drawings, and reports.

Project Manager - Tunnels and Trenchless

Location: Fort Collins, CO, United States

The Grade 6-7 Senior Project Manager – Tunnels and Trenchless role is a senior-level position suited for individuals experienced in the field of practice (primarily tunnel and trenchless design), capable of managing medium to large engineering projects, with honed professional communication and collaboration protocols, and comfortable leading teams and mentoring more junior engineers and geologists.

  • Manage primarily tunnel and trenchless projects as well as (experience dependent) geotechnical, geological, and geo-structural projects (consulting engineer project values from $100k to + $1M) throughout the United States. Includes but is not limited to developing proposals and managing project scope, fee, schedules, and invoices.
  • Perform and/or oversee and review geotechnical and structural design calculations using hand calculations, GeoStudio, RocScience, and finite element modeling software as appropriate to the project.
  • Direct and mentor staff in conducting data collection and analysis to support engineering designs, including geotechnical investigations with typical tasks that include subsurface investigations, well construction, field mapping, geophysics, permitting, and other field work.
  • Direct and mentor staff in creating design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or GIS software as appropriate.
  • Direct and self-perform preparation of technical reports including but not limited to technical memorandums, specifications, geotechnical investigation reports, tunnel feasibility reports, geotechnical data reports, geotechnical baseline reports, construction cost estimates, basis of design reports, etc.
  • Develop related business sectors, including but not limited to participation in conferences and professional groups related to geotechnical, tunnel, trenchless, geo-structural, and geologic engineering as appropriate.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining a cooperative and encouraging company culture.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Geologist (PG), or ability to acquire upon hire
  • 15-20 years experience
