Job summary

McCormick Taylor, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager / Lead Traffic Engineer to lead transportation projects from planning through design. The role emphasizes managing schedules and budgets, mentoring staff, and engaging with clients and teaming partners.

The successful candidate will bring 8+ years in traffic engineering, a PE license, and strong communication and writing skills, with hands-on use of HCS/Synchro/VISSIM and MicroStation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering.
  • Virginia PE license or ability to obtain one within six months.
  • PTOE license is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in a similar position or equivalent working knowledge/experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience with VDOT design criteria, standards, and procedures.
  • Expertise in traffic engineering design and traffic operations.
  • Hands-on experience with HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM as well as MicroStation.
  • Experience and expertise in project management.
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.

  • Support efforts in other disciplines and markets.
  • Apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas.
  • Participate in marketing efforts including meeting with clients and teaming partners.
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for assignments.
  • Mentor and train supporting staff necessary to complete assignments.
  • Encourage staff participation and innovation.
  • Assist with employee reviews.
  • Perform invoicing, status reports, and related accounting needs and track accounts receivable.
  • Contribute to project and staffing backlog projections.
  • Help promote company fiscal and hiring goals.
