Job summary

Talently is seeking a Project Manager to lead structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from award through closeout. You will coordinate estimating, purchasing, production, field operations, and customer service to ensure safe, high-quality work delivered on schedule and within budget.

You will read and interpret drawings, specs, and contracts, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively with GCs, fabricators, and vendors in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of project management experience in steel fabrication, construction, metal manufacturing, or industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee structural steel/misc. metals projects from award to closeout.
• Review contracts, drawings, specs, and scope to confirm requirements.
• Develop and maintain schedules with fabrication, purchasing, field teams, and subcontractors.
• Monitor budgets, costs, labor hours, invoices, and materials.
• Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, approvals, and documentation.
• Serve as primary contact for customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Identify risks, delays, and cost impacts; develop corrective actions.
• Coordinate fabrication and installation, prioritizing safety and quality.

This hands-on Project Manager opportunity oversees projects from award through closeout, coordinating teams across estimating, purchasing, production, field operations, and customer service. Responsibilities:

• Manage structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award through final completion.
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and scope to confirm project requirements.
• Develop and maintain schedules with fabrication, purchasing, field teams, and subcontractors.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, labor hours, invoices, and material expenses.
• Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, approvals, and project documentation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Identify project risks, delays, and cost impacts, and develop solutions to keep work on track.
• Coordinate fabrication and installation while supporting safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Must-Have Skills:

• At least 2 years of project management experience in steel fabrication, construction, metal manufacturing, or an industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or construction project workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, contracts, and specifications.
• Experience managing multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and project documentation simultaneously.Proficiency with project management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Strong organization, time management, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills, with experience working alongside general contractors, fabricators, and subcontractors.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Experience coordinating steel fabrication schedules and field erection crews.
• Experience with project forecasting, workload planning, staffing, and material requirements.
