Job summary

Plexus Corp. is seeking a senior project manager to plan and manage highly complex Aerospace and Defense engineering projects for PLXS-ENG customers.

You will lead business development, identify work-sharing opportunities, and coordinate design, manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure successful project execution. The role requires a track record in project leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage scope, schedule and budget while driving revenue growth and developer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 8+ years of related experience preferred.
  • 5+ years in Aerospace/Defense industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DoD life cycle, FAR/DFAR, export controls, MIL-STDs and MIL-SPECs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage highly complex Aerospace/Defense engineering projects for PLXS-ENG customers.
  • Lead business development and grow repeat business with customers.
  • Coordinate work-sharing and staffing with the design centers and manufacturing sites.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables with stakeholder alignment.
  • Ensure financial targets and revenue projections are achieved.
  • Develop future Plexus leaders by mentoring teams and partners.

The salary offered within this range will be based upon the geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level. Salary Range: $129,500.00 - $203,400.00.

Purpose Statement

To plan and manage highly complex Aerospace and Defense engineering projects for PLXS-ENG customers.

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Business Development - Leads the customer development process in winning new business and is directly responsible for developing repeat business with previous and/or current customers.
  • Work-sharing Support - Accountable for proactively identifying work packages or opportunities that should be work shared. Works effectively with the Functional Manager to promote inter-design center project staffing model while balancing individual needs of the project, customer, and employee.
  • Manages customers’ expectations regarding all aspects across complex full value stream projects AND/OR complex product commercialization projects. This includes setting expectations for the challenges in developing products or test systems. Expectations shall also be managed regarding project scope, schedule, budget, risks, deliverables, and any changes to the original proposal.
  • Manages projects to successful financial execution with the goal of 100% conversion. Utilizes Plexus business systems to accurately project revenue for both active projects and opportunities.
  • Effectively manages the team resources and leads the program to a successful execution. This includes partnering with the engineering team to identify solutions to meet the customer's needs. It is also important to partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and third party suppliers to ensure Plexus’ design are successfully introduced into Plexus Manufacturing Solutions sites. Responsible for developing future Plexus leaders.
Education/Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with 8 or more years of related experience preferred.
  • 5 or more years of related Aerospace/Defense industry experience.
  • Preferred familiarity with:
    • DoD acquisition Life Cycle
    • FAR/DFAR flowdowns
    • Export control, CUI handling
    • MIL-STDs and MIL-SPECs
    • Certified Cost/Price process & compliance

  • Intermediate Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Possesses a detailed understanding and extensive experience in at least one discipline (e.g. analog, digital, mechanical, software, PCB, test) of electronic product development
  • Possess a detailed understanding of the product development and product realization processes
  • Possess good project management skills and knowledge of management principles
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Possess strong team building and team leadership skills
  • Possess strong organizational, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to handle demanding schedules including travel to customer sites
  • Possess conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • General office equipment and materials
