The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of NYC field management experience, a civil/structural engineering background, and strong knowledge of DOB regulations and safety standards.

The Project Manager (PM) will oversee the planning, execution, field deployment, and quality control of pre-construction adjacent property condition surveys and real-time environmental monitoring programs across the five boroughs. This role centers on mitigating risk for high-stakes urban development, heavy excavation, and demolition projects. The PM manages a dedicated team of NYC-based field technicians deployed to document structural baselines and maintain sophisticated instrumentation systems (such as seismographs, automated motorized total stations, and crack gauges).

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise navigating the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) regulatory framework, ensuring full operational compliance with BC Chapter 33 (Safeguards During Construction) and TPPN 10/88 (Historic and Landmark Property Protection).

Key Responsibilities

Field Team Leadership & NYC Site Operations

• Coordinate daily dispatching, logistics, and site access schedules for field technicians across dense, active NYC construction zones.
• Train and mentor field crews on advanced forensic photography, crack-gauge installation, AMTS (Automated Motorized Total Stations) setups, and seismograph deployment.
• Enforce strict compliance with OSHA standards and specialized site safety mandates under NYC Local Law 196.
• Oversee inventory maintenance, field calibration, and cellular telemetry connectivity for all field monitoring hardware (e.g., Instantel seismographs).

Client Relations & Stakeholder Navigation

• Serve as the primary liaison between project developers, structural engineers, and adjacent public/private NYC property owners.
• Facilitate sensitive access license negotiations with neighboring property owners to allow for the installation of monitoring equipment and baseline physical surveys.
• Manage full project lifecycles, including technical proposal drafting, precise job costing, tracking labor budgets, and generating comprehensive monthly reports for clients.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of field management experience specifically centered on NYC building construction, structural monitoring, or forensic engineering.

Soft Skills & Physical Demands

• Exceptional diplomacy and conflict-resolution skills required to navigate the complexities of NYC tenant/owner access disputes.
• Strong technical writing capability to produce concise, objective, and legally sound forensic monitoring summaries.
• Physical capacity to navigate typical NYC construction conditions, including climbing stairs/ladders, accessing roofs, and walking active, uneven site footprints.
