Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Service Projects Lead to develop and deliver HVAC/mechanical service projects, often leading a small team of technicians. You will support sales with scope, analysis, and quotes, and manage budgets, costs, and schedule.

Collaborate with clients to define requirements, manage subcontracts, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance on site. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED is required.
  • 8–10 years of progressive service experience in mechanical/plumbing industries.
  • OSHA-30 certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of industry practices, processes and standards.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Safe work practices and OSHA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Sales with scope development, technical analysis, and retrofits/upsells.

  • Leads Service Projects and the project team to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

  • Manages project documentation, submittals, and field paperwork accuracy.
  • Coordinates material orders and delivery for technicians.
  • Oversees subcontractor scope, performance, and payments as needed.
  • Interacts with authorities for permits, inspections, and approvals.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the development and delivery of Service Projects, typically involve HVAC mechanical or plumbing service. May lead a small team of service technicians in the safe and efficient service and installation of commercial HVAC and plumbing equipment, components and systems.

Position Details
  • Supports Sales Team with customer scope development, technical analysis and support for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment. Develops budget analysis, manages cost and revenue projections.

  • Collaborates closely with Sales and clients to determine the project requirements, develop the project plan and assist with quotes and estimates. Develops client relationships by providing project status updates to client and leadership.

  • Leads Service Projects & Project Team, consisting of trade specific service technicians, vendors, sub-contractors, and other professionals to ensure successful project completion on schedule and on budget.

  • Supervises and directs assigned service technicians. Clearly communicates job duties and ensures adherence to policies, procedures and standards. Provides technical support and guidance to technicians as needed.

  • Processes project documentation, confirms submittals, verifies service tickets and other field paperwork. Assures time is correctly applied and descriptions of work are accurate.

  • Supports the selection, ordering and delivery of supplied and equipment for technicians for assigned project.

  • Manages scope, performance and payment for subcontractors, as needed.

  • Works with any governing authorities for proper permit requests, site inspections, issue resolutions, documentation and approvals.

Qualifications
  • High School degree or GED

  • 8-10 years of progressive experience performing service maintenance, repair and installation work within mechanical industry

  • OSHA-30 certification (must be obtained within six months of hire)

  • Strong knowledge of business/industry practices, processes and standards

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of safety and OSHA rules and regulations

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $95,450.00 - $131,243.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
