Senior Project Manager: $78,981 - $123,408
The Dakota County Transportation Department is seeking candidates for a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager position in the Project Management unit. Responsibilities include communicating as the project spokesperson to internal staff, external stakeholders, partner agencies, and the County Board regarding design, right of way, environmental approvals, and public engagement. The incumbent must balance project needs, scope, time, cost, risk, and quality while maintaining a positive environment to lead diverse customer and stakeholder expectations. The role involves representing County interests in plans and projects related to Trunk Highway, transit, and multi-modal planning and operations led by various agencies. The position also involves providing work direction, assisting in project planning, budget preparation, work plan development, and project monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.

* Knowledge of transportation and engineering principles applicable to the public sector.
* Knowledge of highway design standards, environmental regulations, and specifications.
* Ability to analyze construction plans and specifications.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and issues.
* Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Proven project management skills, including budget and schedule adherence.
* Knowledge of multi-modal transportation elements and best practices.
* Experience in preparing visual and graphic materials for public presentation.
* Ability to lead meetings and discussions effectively.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and transportation modeling programs.
Work is performed in an office setting with some travel. Occasional outside work in extreme temperatures. Equipment used includes laptops, printers, and telephones.
This is a hybrid role, combining telework and in-office work at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
