Job summary

Valley Medical Center is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large, cross‑functional projects across the hospital and affiliated locations from the Enterprise Project Management Office. Qualifications

  • Proficiency in PMI-aligned methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • PMP certification preferred.

Job Description

Senior Project Manager leads large, complex projects across the hospital and affiliated ambulatory locations, using Waterfall or Hybrid methodologies. The role ensures projects meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives while delivering operational, clinical, and financial value. Provides expertise in project execution, governance, and change management, applies EPMO standards and tools consistently, and mentors less‑experienced project managers.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Healthcare Administration, Business, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive project management experience in hospital or healthcare delivery environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project; experience with ServiceNow SPM highly desired.
  • Experience in a structured PMO and project budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large cross‑functional teams and manage multiple concurrent initiatives without direct supervisory authority.
  • Proficiency in PMI‑aligned methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Prosci Change Management Certification or similar preferred.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft tools (Visio, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration and document management.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management highly desired.
  • Experience managing healthcare technology and operational initiatives, including EHR, ERP, and integrated hospital systems.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment

Core business hours are typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; flexibility required for project needs. Hybrid work environment: when working remotely, employees must maintain a secure, ergonomically appropriate home workspace (Monitors, laptop, keyboard, mouse provided). Expected to perform duties during scheduled work time with disciplined environment. Business casual attire required on-site and during video meetings. Occasional to frequent travel to Valley Medical Center and network ambulatory locations required.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies

Project Management Expertise

  • Apply advanced project management methods to lead large, complex, cross‑functional projects with significant operational, financial, or clinical impact.
  • Partner with project sponsors, stakeholders, and operational leaders to define scope, risks, staffing, budgets, and implementation approach.
  • Develop comprehensive project documentation (charters, business cases, work plans, integrated schedules, financial forecasts).
  • Apply standardized EPMO governance frameworks, tools, and methodologies for consistent delivery and reporting.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, maintaining alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and strategy.
  • Integrate scope, schedule, resources, risks, and financial management across multiple workstreams.
  • Ensure effective project close‑out, lessons learned, performance evaluation, and transfer of deliverables to operational teams.

Strategic Alignment & Business Insight

  • Align project objectives with organizational priorities and operational strategies.
  • Anticipate organizational impacts and ensure outcomes support measurable operational, financial, or clinical value.

Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving

  • Proactively identify complex risks, dependencies, and operational barriers.
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests; develop mitigation strategies and appropriate escalation.

Communication

  • Communicate complex project information clearly to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Provide clear status reporting to sponsors, governance committees, and senior stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison across departments, leadership teams, affiliates, and vendors.
  • Facilitate governance meetings, executive briefings, and structured status reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Build strong cross‑functional partnerships with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders.
  • Influence stakeholders to resolve issues, align priorities, maintain momentum; facilitate steering committees and governance reviews.

Team Leadership

  • Lead large cross‑functional project teams, driving engagement and accountability without direct authority.
  • Assign and monitor tasks; coordinate with resource managers for staffing and expertise.

Financial Stewardship

  • Accountable for comprehensive financial management of large, complex projects.
  • Manage capital and operating budgets: cost estimation, forecasting, expense tracking, variance analysis.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasting, variance analysis to ensure fiscal accountability.

Change Leadership

  • Lead structured change management activities including stakeholder engagement and adoption planning.
  • Ensure project outcomes are successfully implemented and sustained operationally.

Adaptability & Professionalism

  • Demonstrate strong organizational awareness and professional judgment in complex environments.
  • Effectively manage multiple high‑priority initiatives in a dynamic healthcare setting.
