Job summary

D2B Groups LLC in Indiana is seeking an experienced Project Manager to build the project management function for power-generation orders, from sales handoff to site delivery. This is a brand-new role designed to own every order and drive on-time, on-budget execution.

You will manage 10–20 active orders, plan at handoff, coordinate shop activities, and ensure parts and documentation are in place for shipment. This onsite role includes relocation support for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Power generation background is required.
• 8+ years in the power generation industry.
• Technical depth across diesel and natural gas generator sets, ATS and switchgear.
• Drawing literacy: reading schematics and build specs.
• Proactive ownership and clear communication.
• Strong Excel skills for scheduling, tracking and reporting.

Job description

Our client is an established dealer of new and used diesel and natural gas generators, supplying units from under 150 kW through multi-megawatt packages across Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, MTU and other major OEMs. What sets them apart is their in-house capability: nearly every unit that leaves their facility has been load bank tested, reconditioned, painted, modified and configured by their own shop, then delivered directly to the customer's site. Order volume is growing, and the company is adding a dedicated Project Manager to keep that growth on schedule.

The opportunity

This is a brand-new role and a genuine chance to build the project management function from the ground up. Today, the owners are carrying day-to-day project execution themselves. This hire takes full ownership of every order from the moment sales hands it off to the moment it lands at the customer's site, freeing ownership to focus on growing the business.

What you'll do

• Own the full project scope. Take ownership of 10 to 20 active orders at a time, ranging from single small standby units to multi-unit paralleled packages, and manage the full scope of each from PO to site delivery.
• Build the plan at handoff. Turn each new order into a clear plan covering scope of work, parts, shop labor, milestones and a committed ship date.
• Drive shop execution. Work with the shop foreman to sequence and prioritize load bank testing, reconditioning and repair, paint, enclosure and fuel tank modifications, controls, ATS and switchgear work, and multi-unit packaging and paralleling.
• Manage parts and procurement. Identify long-lead parts and components early, place and chase orders, and make sure materials are in hand before the shop needs them.
• Stay ahead of problems. Anticipate schedule risks, resolve bottlenecks before they cost days, and elevate early and clearly to the owner when decisions are needed.
• Verify readiness before shipment. Confirm each unit is tested, documented and ready to ship, including test reports and the documentation package that goes with it.
• Coordinate delivery. Arrange freight, rigging and oversized-load logistics so every unit arrives at the customer's site as promised.
• Keep everyone informed. Maintain the master project schedule and give the owner and sales team regular, accurate status so sales can keep customers informed.
• Build the process. Establish the tracking, handoff and reporting processes this role will run on, and improve them as volume grows.

What you bring

• Power generation background (must-have). Direct power generation experience is required, either as a generator technician or on the manufacturing side for generators, enclosures, controls or switchgear.
• Experience. 8+ years in the power generation industry, with a track record of managing multiple jobs, work orders or builds at the same time.
• Technical depth. Working knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator sets across major OEMs, plus a practical understanding of load bank testing, ATS and switchgear, and paralleling.
• Drawing literacy. Comfortable reading electrical schematics, one-line drawings and build specifications.
• Proactive ownership. A self-starter who takes ownership, follows through without being chased and keeps projects moving through influence and clear communication.
• Organization. Strong Excel skills for scheduling, tracking and reporting.

Schedule and location

Monday through Friday, standard hours, fully onsite at the company's facility south of Indianapolis. Travel is minimal.
