Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Manager – Pharmacy Mergers & Acquisitions based in the United States. We are seeking a hands‑on Project Manager to lead pharmacy acquisitions, integrations, new pharmacy launches, and relocations across a growing healthcare services organization. In this role, you will transform approved growth opportunities into structured project plans and oversee execution from initial planning through launch, stabilization, and operational handoff. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure critical regulatory, technical, financial, and operational requirements are met. Working across pharmacy operations, clinical quality, finance, legal, IT, facilities, and other key functions, you will help deliver seamless transitions while protecting continuity of patient and client care. You will also strengthen implementation processes, improve project visibility, and develop repeatable frameworks that support sustainable growth. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful healthcare outcomes in a collaborative, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities
  • Lead end-to-end project execution: Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring clear ownership and accountability across concurrent initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams: Align stakeholders across operations, clinical and quality, legal and compliance, finance, HR, IT, revenue cycle, payer relations, licensing, facilities, procurement, sales, marketing, 340B, and logistics.
  • Manage project governance and reporting: Facilitate kickoffs, workstream reviews, and readiness meetings; maintain dashboards and risk and issue logs; document decisions; and communicate progress, escalations, and recovery plans to leadership.
  • Drive acquisition integrations: Develop transaction‑specific integration plans that address deal structure, locations, licensing, payer enrollment, workforce requirements, systems, contracts, and operational processes.
  • Coordinate pre‑close planning: Manage seller information requests and preparation activities in accordance with approved legal, confidentiality, and access requirements.
  • Oversee Day 1 readiness and post‑close integration: Coordinate employee onboarding, financial and billing continuity, technology transitions, supplier changes, procurement, communications, and operational workflows to support smooth acquisitions.
  • Manage system conversions and cutovers: Coordinate testing, system migrations, transition plans, contingency measures, and operational support to minimize disruption to pharmacy services and client relationships.
  • Execute new pharmacy builds and relocations: Translate approved opportunities into project scopes, budgets, schedules, launch plans, and readiness criteria, escalating material changes to cost, timing, staffing, or scope.
  • Coordinate facilities and launch dependencies: Oversee collaboration among functional owners and external partners on site selection, leases, permitting, construction, licensing, equipment, technology, staffing, supplier setup, inventory, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure launch and regulatory readiness: Obtain functional readiness signoffs and elevate unresolved regulatory, patient‑safety, payer, security, financial, or operational risks before launch.
  • Lead stabilization and operational handoff: Coordinate launch support, resolve emerging issues, conduct stabilization reviews, and ensure a formal transition to ongoing operations.
  • Monitor performance and improve processes: Track results against approved scope, schedule, budget, and operational objectives; capture lessons learned; and continuously refine implementation playbooks, templates, and project management practices.
  • Support continuity of care: Ensure project decisions and transition plans account for patient needs, client service expectations, and uninterrupted pharmacy operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, project management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Project management experience: At least five years of experience managing or implementing complex, cross‑functional projects involving multiple departments, external vendors, or locations.
  • Relevant industry background: Experience in healthcare, pharmacy operations, mergers and acquisitions, integrations, facility openings, or other regulated environments is strongly preferred.
  • Planning and execution: Demonstrated ability to build detailed project plans, manage dependencies, control budgets and schedules, track deliverables, and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Stakeholder management: Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams, maintain accountability, and drive timely decisions without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Risk and issue management: Ability to identify project risks early, develop mitigation and contingency plans, elevate concerns appropriately, and resolve issues in fast‑moving environments.
  • Reporting and analytical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management tools for schedules, dashboards, budgets, action tracking, and leadership reporting.
  • Operational readiness expertise: Ability to coordinate regulatory approvals, licensing, staffing, technology, facilities, vendor transitions, and other critical launch requirements.
  • Change management and adaptability: Comfortable managing evolving requirements, complex transitions, and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and service continuity.
  • Continuous improvement mindset: Ability to document lessons learned, standardize processes, and develop scalable implementation frameworks.
  • Preferred certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent credential.
  • Additional preferred experience: Behavioral health or long‑term care pharmacy, pharmacy system conversions, construction coordination, and/or 340B program experience.
  • Travel and flexibility: Willingness to travel for site assessments, acquisition transitions, construction milestones, and pharmacy launches. Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required during critical transitions.
Benefits
  • Annual salary: $115,000–$125,000, based on experience and qualifications. The job listing also references a compensation range of $110,000–$125,000 per year.
  • Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) program.
  • Paid time off: Paid leave to support personal needs and work‑life balance.
  • Paid holidays: Paid holidays as part of the overall benefits package.
  • Meaningful work: The opportunity to support pharmacy growth and integration initiatives that help improve medication adherence, patient outcomes, and continuity of care.
  • Cross‑functional exposure: Collaboration with diverse healthcare, operational, technical, and business teams across acquisitions, new builds, and relocations.
