Job summary

Elgen Staffing supports a client in Hampton seeking an experienced Project Manager to coordinate and manage manufacturing projects from planning through completion. You will align production priorities, materials, resources, schedules, and work orders to meet customer and company requirements, serving as the link between production, engineering, receiving, quality, and customers.

You will monitor workload, identify constraints, and partner with department supervisors to maintain production flow

Job description

Our client, a prestigious, nationwide, law firm dedicated to providing legal services to financial institutions, has an immediate need for an experienced Project Manager, to join their winning team in Hampton.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for coordinating and managing manufacturing projects from planning through completion, ensuring production priorities, materials, resources, schedules, and work orders are aligned to meet customer and company requirements. This position serves as a key link between production, engineering, receiving, quality, and customers. You will monitor workload and capacity, identify potential schedule or material constraints, and work closely with department supervisors to maintain production flow and meet delivery commitments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, review, establish, and prioritize production schedules based on customer requirements, job priorities, available capacity, and resource loading.
• Coordinate with department supervisors to establish daily priorities, evaluate workload, identify constraints, and maintain production schedules.
• Establish sequential production dates and priorities for departments and work centers based on job requirements.
• Monitor projects throughout the manufacturing process and proactively identify schedule, material, capacity, or operational issues that could affect delivery.
• Expedite operations and adjust schedules as necessary to respond to changing priorities, material availability, production challenges, or unforeseen conditions.
• Coordinate the movement and availability of materials throughout the facility to support production requirements.
• Work closely with Receiving and other departments to ensure required materials and components are available when needed for machining, fabrication, and assembly.
• Review work orders, operations, routing sheets, travelers, components, and subcomponents for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain accurate project and production information within the Company’s ERP system.
• Generate and review capacity reports to assist management and production departments with resource planning and workload management.
• Maintain accurate records regarding work-in-process, material status and location, project progress, and production schedules.
• Develop and maintain product routing sheets and manufacturing processes with an emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and cost.
• Enter and maintain bills of material and other required manufacturing information.
• Review repeat production jobs for compliance with current engineering and contract requirements and identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, flow, and cost.
• Develop temporary or alternate process routings when required for rework, special handling, or other manufacturing conditions.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and preventive-action activities related to production, quality, scheduling, or process issues.
• Coordinate special product packaging requirements when necessary to protect products during handling and transportation.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding project status, requirements, priorities, needs, and other project-related matters.
• Anticipate changing project conditions and work collaboratively with the appropriate departments to resolve issues before they negatively affect production or customer commitments.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, production scheduling, work orders, routing sheets, travelers, bills of material, and capacity planning.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documentation, and customer requirements.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, assembly, manufacturing tooling, work standards, and production processes.
• Understanding of supplier special processes, including coatings, finishes, heat treatment, surface treatment, and non-destructive testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to identify root causes and coordinate corrective actions.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to communicate technical and production information clearly through verbal, written, and graphical communication.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, supervisors, management, suppliers, and customers.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities and production requirements may change.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction.
