Job description

Company: TAKNEK LLC

Employment Type: Full-Time

Project Area: Texas

About TAKNEK

TAKNEK LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Industrial Construction Division and lead complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth and North Texas region.

Our projects include the construction, expansion, rehabilitation, and upgrade of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, storage tanks, process facilities, and related civil and mechanical infrastructure.

This is not an entry-level project management position. We are looking for a construction professional with substantial hands‑on experience managing industrial and municipal infrastructure projects who understands how these projects are built from preconstruction through startup and closeout.

Strong knowledge of the North Texas construction market, including local subcontractors, suppliers, municipalities, engineering firms, and construction practices, is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, financial performance, and completion of assigned projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage industrial water and wastewater construction projects from preconstruction and mobilization through commissioning and final closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, and construction execution plans.
  • Manage project financial performance, including cost control, committed costs, forecasting, change management, billing, and profitability.
  • Coordinate closely with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and TAKNEK field personnel.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
  • Identify constructability issues, project risks, scope gaps, and potential cost or schedule impacts before they affect field operations.
  • Lead subcontractor and vendor procurement, scope development, bid evaluation, negotiations, and subcontract administration.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement logs, project documentation, and owner correspondence.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and actively manage critical-path activities.
  • Coordinate long‑lead equipment and materials, particularly process equipment, pumps, piping, valves, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and specialty systems.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure construction activities are properly planned, sequenced, staffed, and executed.
  • Conduct and participate in owner/engineer meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, schedule reviews, and internal project reviews.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, safety, schedule, and cost performance throughout construction.
  • Manage project changes and ensure TAKNEK properly documents and recovers costs associated with changes in scope or conditions.
  • Support testing, startup, commissioning, punch‑list completion, turnover documentation, and project closeout.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders and represent TAKNEK professionally in all project interactions.
Required Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • 7+ years of construction experience, with significant experience in a Project Manager or similar project leadership position.
  • Strong experience in industrial, heavy civil, municipal water, or wastewater construction.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving one or more of the following:
  • Pump and lift stations
  • Water storage tanks
  • Process piping systems
  • Large‑diameter piping
  • Mechanical/process equipment
  • Electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Underground utilities and site civil work
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors, vendors, field teams, project schedules, budgets, and owner relationships.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project controls.
  • Experience managing multimillion‑dollar construction projects with responsibility for cost and schedule performance.
  • Ability to understand construction sequencing and work effectively with Superintendents and field crews.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work primarily in the DFW/North Texas area and regularly visit active project sites.
Experience Preferred

TAKNEK is particularly interested in candidates who have built their careers in the Dallas–Fort Worth and North Texas industrial/heavy civil construction market.

Candidates with established knowledge and relationships involving North Texas:

  • Municipalities and water authorities
  • General contractors and specialty contractors
  • Mechanical and piping subcontractors
  • Civil and concrete subcontractors
  • Electrical and instrumentation contractors
  • Equipment manufacturers and suppliers
  • Engineering and consulting firms

will be strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience specifically delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.
  • Experience with both self‑perform and subcontracted construction operations.
  • Strong estimating and preconstruction knowledge.
  • Experience with project scheduling and cost‑control systems.
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management platforms.
  • OSHA and construction safety knowledge.
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of water/wastewater process facilities.
What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a builder and project leader, not simply an administrator.

The ideal candidate understands what happens in the field, can read drawings and specifications, recognizes construction and sequencing problems early, understands project costs, and knows how to drive subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams toward successful completion.

The right person will be comfortable moving between the jobsite, project meetings, financial reviews, procurement discussions, and client conversations while maintaining ownership of the project's overall performance.

For TAKNEK, success in this position means delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, at the required quality, and with a satisfied client.

Work Location

This position is based in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, with regular travel to TAKNEK project sites throughout North Texas.

Candidates currently located in North Texas, or with significant previous construction experience in the region, are strongly preferred.
