Job description

Overview

The Project Manager II can independently manage a multi-craft, joint venture, or EPC project up to $100 million. This role involves overseeing project safety, quality, and all project controls necessary for successful project delivery. Depending on the project structure, the Project Manager II directs engineering, technology providers, and JV partners. They are accountable for all aspects of the project, including safety, quality, labor, materials, scope, client interactions, and overall execution across disciplines.

The role requires a thorough understanding of industry best practices and codes across all disciplines.

This position involves interfacing with clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and maintaining strategic communication with project management regarding project status.

Location & Travel Details: You can be based anywhere in the U.S. This is a traveling, project-based position, with up to 90% travel. Projects are typically 8-18 months long. We provide per diem, a competitive salary, mobilization support, and a company vehicle or allowance.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the entire site management team.
  2. Represent MIC professionally in client interactions.
  3. Communicate with all project stakeholders.
  4. Champion and develop site safety plans.
  5. Monitor schedule progress and productivity, addressing issues proactively.
  6. Review work plans, quality documentation, and support quality assurance.
  7. Coach staff on safety and monitor safety practices.
  8. Coordinate material deliveries and procurement.
  9. Review drawings, specifications, and perform basic engineering calculations.
  10. Manage submittals, purchase orders, and subcontractor operations.
  11. Maintain project records, reports, RFIs, and correspondence.
  12. Develop and review project controls, schedules, and budgets.
  13. Manage change orders, project costs, and cash flow.
  14. Act as the primary client contact and manage contractual obligations.
  15. Assist in staffing and resource planning.
  16. Oversee equipment purchases and rentals.
  17. Lead, supervise, and mentor project team members.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 10+ direct reports and manage projects with 300+ employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
  • Minimum of 10 years field experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety programs and regulations.
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Work in varying outdoor conditions, often for long hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and wear safety equipment.

Hours: Typically 50 hours/week, with schedule subject to project needs.
