Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II to support capital improvement projects at the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Monticello, Minnesota. This role is responsible for full lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) management of nuclear capital projects including plant modifications, equipment replacements, and facility upgrades.

This opportunity offers the chance to work in a highly structured, safety-driven nuclear environment supporting long‑term plant reliability and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage capital projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and funding requests.
  • Oversee budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate engineering, maintenance, construction, and vendor activities.
  • Manage contractor performance and ensure milestone achievement.
  • Lead project meetings and provide executive‑level updates.
  • Support procurement activities, vendor selection, and contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

Projects are typically valued at $1M+ and may involve system modifications, equipment replacements, and facility upgrades.

Required Qualifications
  • 5–7+ years of cradle‑to‑grave project management experience.
  • Experience managing capital projects valued at $1M or greater.
  • Strong understanding of PMI/PMBOK predictive (Waterfall) project management methodologies.
  • Ability to work onsite at Monticello Nuclear Plant.
  • Must be eligible to obtain unescorted nuclear plant access (background check and fitness‑for‑duty screening required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • ABET‑accredited degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Commercial nuclear power experience strongly preferred.
  • Ex‑Navy Nuclear or prior utility/power plant experience preferred if no commercial nuclear background.
  • Construction project experience.
  • Finance or cost controls background.
  • Experience with:
    • SAP
    • Primavera P6
    • MS Project
    • Unifier
    • UKG Workday
    • Organizations such as WECTEC or GE considered a plus.
