Project Manager II (Workers' Compensation Insurance) |100% Remote Opportunity (WFH)
General Summary
The Project Manager (PM) II is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating medium to large sized agile project teams to achieve project and product delivery objectives for Workers' Compensation Insurance carrier. The PM II will possess the skills to effectively mobilize teams and structure projects using EMPLOYERS Project Management Process (PMP) and Agile SDLC methods for consistent delivery performance. The PM II will be effective at leveraging standards and best practices while organizing teams and optimizing processes to effectively and efficiently achieve business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Project/Product Management – Effectively mobilize Workers' Compensation Insurance project teams from basic objective information. Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; create and facilitate executive tollgates to align strategic objectives with agile team product release plans, organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
- Scrum Master – be the servant-leader for the Workers' Compensation Insurance team to ensure the team lives the agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices the team has agreed to utilize. Be the team coach and facilitator to remove blockers for effective product releases. Build effective relationships with resource managers to optimize team member participation.
- Resource Management – Plan and manage the team structure and resource allocation plan, forecast, and actuals to support the delivery of assigned work. Lead resource managers and program managers to identify and resolve staffing issues.
- Financials – Manage the project financial plan and partner with resource managers, program managers and Director of the PMO to refine project forecasts monthly and quarterly.
- Vendor Management – Plan and manage vendor activities to support project and agile product delivery and effectively manage vendor relationship issues.
- Continuous Improvement – Contributes to and leads department process and tool improvements.
Requirements
- 5-10 Years in an IT Software delivery field
- Competent leadership skills to organize, motivate, and lead small to medium size project or product teams
- Competent planning skills to mobilize teams, confirm scope, plan resources, establish release schedules and plans, and manage a financial budget for medium to large sized project or product delivery teams.
- Competent analytical skills to assess processes, systems, scope, requirements, and teams and organize thoughts and ideas utilizing analytic techniques.
- Competent presentation and communications skills to create impactful presentations, facilitate project leadership and team meetings, effectively document and communicate risks and issues, and provide project and product status updates. Effectively communicates with the Project Sponsors, Business Leaders, Product Owners, IT Service Owners, Stakeholders, Vendors and team members.
- Recognized as an agile practitioner who is as comfortable as a Scrum Master or promotes and influences agile practices in project, product and department processes.
- Competent understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods, steps, roles and responsibilities to ensure Agile practices are utilized while ensuring advances in security, continuous build, quality, and measurements are achieved.
- Ability to create trusted relations ships with key executive stakeholders, department leads and team members. Viewed as a stakeholder advocate.
- Is recognized for business domain expertise associated for 1-2 functional areas and can quickly develop expertise for new Project assignments. Is a contributing member to solution and delivery scope, requirements, and feature discussions.
- Competent understanding of solution technologies associated with assigned Projects or Products to effectively structure schedules based on technology dependencies and risk mitigations. Contributes to IT architecture, design, and roadmap discussions and decisions.
- Competent skills with department tools and technologies including MS Office Tools, Tempus resource management, Confluence, Luicid Charts and advanced skills in Jira.
Certification
- Certified in Agile practices
- Scrum Master Certificate (SMC)
- Kanban Professional (KMP 1)
- Business analysis, process improvement certifications are a plus:
- Six Sigma Yellow belt a plus
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) a plus
- Agile Analysis Certification (AAC) a plus
- Project Management and Agile Certifications are a plus:
- Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner (PMO ACP)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, or equivalent experience
Work Environment:
- Remote: This role is a remote (work from home (WFH) opportunity, and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to workwithoutsponsorship.
- It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace.
- Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
- Travel: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to attend meetings, as necessary
