VP of Customer Experience @ Canopy | Driving Customer Success, Retention, and Growth through Authentic Leadership

About Canopy

Canopy is committed to creating safer and more supportive environments for those on the front lines of care. Our mission drives us: to help hospitals ensure that healthcare workers feel safe, appreciated, and empowered every day to deliver the highest quality of care.

We develop and deploy critical safety technology, including our wearable duress system and Real-Time Location System (RTLS) portfolio, delivered as a comprehensive service to enterprise healthcare systems across the United States. At Canopy, design is integral to achieving our mission, translating our commitment and technology into clear, compelling communication that resonates with our partners and supports healthcare professionals. Join our collaborative, mission-focused team and use your talents to make a real difference.

About the Role

Canopy is seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead the deployment of our innovative safety technology across healthcare and enterprise organizations.

This is not an internal-facing PM role — the ideal candidate has led complex, customer-facing implementations where success depends on direct collaboration with external clients and end users.

Reporting directly to the VP of Customer Experience, this is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States (strong preference for Midwest or East Coast), with travel to customer sites required during deployments.

As our Project Manager, you will be the primary driver of successful service rollouts alongside the Customer Success Manager and Account Executive, orchestrating complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving clinicians, IT, security, HR, training and communications teams, and executive leadership. You’ll blend strategic project planning with exceptional customer-facing leadership, ensuring alignment across diverse groups while delivering a seamless deployment experience.

Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Suite — including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint — as well as familiarity with the Google Suite , is essential, as these tools are core to our project collaboration, customer communications, and resource management.

The ideal candidate has a background in healthcare , healthcare-adjacent industries, or similarly complex, regulated environments, and thrives in fast-paced high-growth settings where cross-functional coordination, ownership mentality, customer leadership, and adaptability are critical.

This role is perfect for someone who takes full ownership of outcomes, embraces collaboration, and is passionate about making a tangible impact on workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end deployment projects for Canopy's safety services across multiple customer locations.
  • Own the external customer relationship during deployments , ensuring communication, alignment, and success across departments and leadership levels.
  • Establish and manage project plans, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocations.
  • Facilitate customer-facing project meetings, working sessions, and executive updates using relevant systems.
  • Build trusted partnerships with customer stakeholders across clinical, security, IT, HR, training, and communications functions.
  • Identify risks early, manage escalations professionally, and proactively develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful deployments.
  • Manage project ambiguity with a solutions-focused, adaptable approach.
  • Support change management efforts across customer organizations to drive adoption of Canopy services.
  • Collaborate with Canopy Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to provide field feedback, identify needed product enhancements, and recommend content or communication updates to support deployment success.
  • Track key deployment metrics, milestone achievements, and customer satisfaction indicators.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, status reports, and executive summaries.
  • Partner with internal Canopy teams across deployment operations, customer success, support, product, and marketing to ensure a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed to support onsite deployments and program launches (estimated 15–25% travel depending on project needs).
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in healthcare, healthcare technology, security technology, or similarly complex industries.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, SharePoint, and related tools) and familiarity with the Google Suite.
  • Proven experience managing complex, external customer deployments across multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated success leading external customer-facing projects with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to manage escalations and navigate ambiguity with professionalism and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong ownership mentality; proactively drives project success with limited oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation, status reporting, and executive-level presentations.
  • Understanding of change management practices and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical (IT, security) and non-technical (clinical, HR, training) audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for onsite customer deployments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Monday.com, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows, healthcare IT systems, or healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, Joint Commission).
  • Familiarity with basic technical concepts such as networking, connected devices, and data privacy principles.
  • Experience in workplace safety, security technology, SaaS, or wearable device deployments.
