Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction or mass timber.
  • Strong technical background in structural systems and building codes.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects and client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, or similar PM tools and CRM systems.
  • Willingness to travel 40–60%; based at Phoenix, IL plant or regional locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management from signed quote through delivery and closeout.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and vendors on all project aspects.
  • Monitor conditions and progress via virtual methods and site visits.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain project documentation.
  • Coordinate with accounting to set up new client files and manage invoicing.
  • Manage project budget, subcontractor bids, progress billing, and change orders.
  • Ensure contract terms and scope are complied with.
  • Coordinate manufacturing with operations and design leadership.
  • Align installation and material shipment schedules.
  • Provide regular progress reports in project management meetings.
  • Work with suppliers for materials and build out supplier relationships.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare contract closeout documents and participate in post-mortem reviews.

Travel: Overnight travel, approximately 40-60%, including site visits, client meetings, and industry events across North America.

About the Role

The Project Manager plays a key role in the organization, acting as the main point of contact for internal and external clients and third-party vendors. The Project Manager will work directly with the Sales Design and Operations teams to help ensure successful project delivery. This role requires strong financial acumen, an understanding of construction contract management, exceptional organization and ownership skills.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as project management lead from signed quote through delivering projects to close out following company protocols and procedures and acting as point of contact for internal and external project team members
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors regarding all aspects of project fulfillment
  • Assess and monitor conditions and progress, principally through virtual communication and occasionally through site visits
  • Lead project meetings and maintain excellent and retrievable project documentation, including meeting agendas and minutes, punch lists, client decisions, specifications, job reports, and written and verbal communication
  • Work with accounting team to initiate new client set-up, deliver invoices and follow-up to ensure payments are received in a timely manner
  • Manage project budget, subcontractor bid packages, progress billing and change orders
  • Understand project scope and contract terms to ensure full compliance
  • Coordinate project manufacturing and fabrication with operations and design leadership, while representing client's interests and expected schedule
  • Align installation and material shipment schedules ensuring proper sequencing
  • Keep team informed on progress of project and budget through regularly scheduled project management meetings
  • Oversee procurement and cooperate with third-party material vendors of complementary products including glulam, steel, connection hardware, rigging, coatings and more, working with the team to collaboratively build out standard product libraries and supplier relationships
  • Work with adjacent department leads toward continuous improvement of processes and products
  • Compile contract close out documents and assist in post-mortem project review meetings

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction, structural engineering, or mass timber projects.
  • Strong technical background and understanding of structural systems, building codes, and sustainable construction practices.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects, teams, and client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills - able to build rapport quickly in face-to-face and virtual settings.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and CRM systems.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (40-60%) and be based at our Phoenix, IL plant or regional locations as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Prior experience with CLT, mass timber, or sustainable construction projects; familiarity with AEC networking and technical sales.
