Job summary

Schneider Electric in Columbus, OH seeks a Building Automation Systems/Project Manager with 2+ years in project management in building automation or 6+ years in related roles. You will lead project teams to deliver HVAC controls, BMS, and security projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards.

You will coordinate subcontractors, manage communications with clients, and oversee project documentation, schedules, and costs while driving efficiency and safety across site

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as Project manager in building automation, HVAC controls, and/or construction; or 6+ years as Project engineer or related roles.
  • Knowledge of BACnet/LON/MODBUS protocols.
  • Project management development program preferred not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Office 365, File Structure, and Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for financial management on all assigned projects.
  • Prepare subcontractor bids, descopes, negotiate subcontracts, and manage schedule and billings.
  • Maintain all project documentation and communications with customers.
  • Manage subcontractors, scheduling, planning, and tracking.
  • Ensure safety plans, site audits, PPE provision, and toolbox talks are conducted.
  • Develop project execution plans and ensure compliance with contracts and estimates.
  • Coordinate change orders, pricing, and pricing activity.
  • Deliver final project documentation to customers and collect payment.

Building Automation Systems/Project Manager for the Columbus, OH area
Job Summary & Qualifications

This position is typically held by an individual that has at least 2 plus years’ as project manager in the building automation or 6+ years’ experience as a project engineer, or combined years of system application engineering or technician experience.

This position plans, directs and coordinates activities of project teams to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with all company and site safety requirements, accomplished on time, implemented at or below the estimated cost, and billed in a timely fashion throughout the duration of the project.

Project managers must have construction industry knowledge, strong communication skills, strong understanding of contracting procedures and experience with responsibilities such as project correspondence, documentation, timely notice of changes and claims, negotiation and subcontract and vendor management.

This individual should have an understanding of HVAC, BMS, and/or security systems as well as practical understanding of construction means and methods, building codes, and standards.

They must exhibit strong leadership skills including directing activity of team members and the ability to empower others through delegating responsibility. Project managers report to the Operations Manager, Construction Manager or a Program Manager in larger operations teams.

Duties
  • Accountable for financial management on all assigned projects.
  • Prepares installation subcontractor bidding documents, descopes and negotiates subcontracts, and manages schedule, change orders, and billings.
  • Responsible for all customers facing communication.
  • Subcontractor management, scheduling, planning and tracking.
  • Responsibility for safety and wellbeing of employees and subcontractors on projects, inclusive of creation of site safety plans, site audits, PPE provision, and toolbox talks and adherence to jobsite requirements.
  • Manages resources by planning, scheduling, and forecasting manpower and resource requirements.
  • Generates a Project Execution Plan for approval by leadership when required, and executes project in compliance with contract documents, project estimate, and approved execution plan.
  • Obtain, organize, and maintain all project contract documents in Studio360 through usage of Schneider Electric project management tools.
  • Accountable for documentation of projects, including but not limited to RFI's, meeting minutes, punch list, transmittal logs, submittal logs, change order logs and issues logs.
  • Attends project sites regularly. Attends required site meetings.
  • Prepares project revenue forecasts, schedules of values, and billings.
  • Works to maximize GM improvement on all projects by leveraging labor efficiencies, outsourcing or overseas labor, and purchasing to reduce costs.
  • Prepares and updates project schedule and cost to complete estimates.
  • Coordinates all change order review and pricing activity, including responsibility for estimating and proposal creation.
  • Prepares and delivers final project documentation to the customer and collects payment.
  • Ability to prepare written recovery plans for non-performing projects.
  • QA/QC for project documentation.
  • Project turnover to service and customers.
Qualifications
  • 2 plus years as Project manager in the building automation, HVAC controls and or construction Industry or 6 plus years’ experience as a Project engineer, or combined years of system application engineering or technician experience.
  • Knowledge of basic BACnet/LON/MODBUS protocols.
  • Project management development program preferred not required
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to function in highly charged situations with customers, teammates, team members, peers, and contemporaries.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Strong collaborative skills, internal and external.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365, File Structure, VISIO.
Pay Range

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
