Job summary

AFRY USA seeks a Project Manager II to lead complex, cross-functional projects from scope definition through budget and schedule management. You will mitigate risk, coordinate with engineering disciplines, and ensure successful contract outcomes with clients.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or architecture, 5 years of engineering experience, and strong communication. PMP and professional registration are preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architectural discipline.
  • 5 years of engineering experience with 2–7 years of project management.
  • Familiarity with project accounting, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Professional registration as an engineer or architect preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication and client presentations.
  • Industry focus: Chemical & Bio Refining, Pulp & Paper, Mining and Metals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop written project plans and charters with defined scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Manage projects per AFRY US LLC procedures and client contract terms.
  • Ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Serve as client liaison and participate in meetings with authority to speak for the company.
  • Supervise project engineers, discipline engineers, and other staff; oversee procurement and project controls.
  • Prepare monthly project reports and earned value and resource loading plans.

Job Description

The ProjectManager II leads complex, cross‑functional projects by defining scope, managing budgets, resources, and schedules, and proactively mitigating risk to ensure stakeholder satisfaction. This role champions best practices and requires strong leadership, communication, and financial acumen.The ProjectManager IIrepresentsthe company in delivering successful project outcomes andretainsfull authority and accountability throughout the contract lifecycle.

SCOPE:

Develop written project planstoestablishthe project“charter”definition,thescope of work, cost,and schedule parameters.

Manage the projectin accordance withAFRY USALLC’sProjectManagementProcedures and the contractual agreement with the client.

Ensure compliance withscope,schedule, budget,and quality requirements.

Serve as client liaison, includinginitiating andparticipatinginmeetings and conferences, having the authority to speak for thecompany.

Supervise personnel assigned to the projectteam. Direct supervision may include project engineers,discipline engineers,other engineering consultants,home office and/or resident construction management, and project support service personnel including procurement,project control, estimating,schedulingand administration.

Continuouslymonitortheprojectstatus, keeping the client andAFRYmanagement informed of developments that may affect scope,schedule, budget,quality,financial performance, and client relations.

Participate inthenegotiation of contract changes with the client.

Ensure proper documentation of meetings, agreements,and conversationsthatmay affect contract commitments.

Assistin the preparation of proposals,marketing material,andsales oftechnical presentations.

Prepare a Project Procedures Manual, Design Criteria Document, and/or Field Procedure Manual,ifappropriate, and other project controls to encompass all phases of the work.

Assist Department Managers and Client Relations staff with client contracts, presentations,and qualificationmaterials.

Coordinate the receipt ofall information coming into the office on a project anddisseminateit to the designteamand others asappropriate.

Coordinate the work with other engineering disciplines,whererequired,for project continuity.

Monitor/report scope.

Monitor/report schedule and costs.

Prepare project monthly reports.

Coordinate preparation of earned value reports.

Coordinate preparation of resource loading plan.

Qualifications
RELATIONSHIPS:

This role reports to a designated Executive Sponsor for each project and collaborates with teams across all departments,leveragingin-houseexpertise. The position may be accountable to multiple Executive Sponsors simultaneously, depending on project assignments.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSREQUIRED:

Mustpossessin-depth knowledge and a working backgroundinproject management principles.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecturaldiscipline or equivalent combination of academic training and related engineering experience.

Prefer5yearsofengineering experience with a minimum of2 to 7years ofmanaging projects.

Familiarity withprojectaccounting, estimating, and scheduling proceduresand systemsis preferred.

Professional registration as an engineer or architect is preferred.

PMP certification is preferred.

Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to make effective presentations to clients and technical groups.

Industry focus: Chemical& Bio Refining, Pulp & Paper, Mining and Metals.

Strong computer-based skills in relevant software programs, such as Word, Excel, Access, Adobe,Outlook,and Windows.

Industrial based role, not an information technology role.
