Job summary

Job description

We are looking for a team-oriented Project Manager with experience in Iowa DOT and/or local municipal transportation design and with knowledge of Microstation and Geopak design software. The role will manage projects throughout their lifecycle, focusing primarily on local and statewide highway and transportation projects, while also supporting other disciplines through HNTB’s Central States Office.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop project scope, fee quotation and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts.
• Serve as primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule and budget on time and within budget.
• Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan, lead the development and execution of the project management plan, and supervise/mentor the team.
• Coordinate with managers on project staffing, recruitment, development, succession and performance reviews.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions for business development, client relationship building and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini‑mega projects.
• Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini‑mega projects.
• Provide other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in transportation design projects.
• Minimum 2 years of task management or Deputy Project Manager experience.
• Proficiency with Microstation and Geopak design software.
• Experience managing projects at the strategic or mini‑mega level (projects <$5M).

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license – State of Iowa preferred or ability to obtain.
• Experience with Iowa DOT projects.
• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads, Bluebeam Revu and other relevant tools.
• Active engagement in local professional and/or civic organizations.
