Job summary

United Mechanical is seeking a Project Manager to lead HVAC and plumbing projects in the San Jose/ Alameda area. You will oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, and Service teams, and drive project success from proposal through completion.

Reports to the Vice President of HVAC Division and will collaborate to meet aggressive schedules while maintaining excellent client relationships and project profitability.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, but not required.
  • MBA or master’s level degree and/or a licensed PE is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management abilities with organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of projects and their scope.
  • Responsible for the execution of trade work.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of all departments during project construction.
  • Perform functions to promote and finalize sales, including estimating, design, proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Prepare budget projections and control costs within limits.
  • Provide letters, proposals, memos, contracts, change orders, and strategies for good business procedures.
  • Ensure the project meets its schedule and profitability goals.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and the industry.

Overview

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for sales and management of projects in addition to assigned projects and supporting assigned projects. The PM will also collaboratively provide project leadership and is the single source of responsibility to United Mechanical and the customer.

Location: San Jose, CA or Alameda, CA

Reports to: Vice President of HVAC Division

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of projects and their scope.
  • Responsible for the execution of trade work.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of all United Mechanical departmental efforts, including Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, and Service, during project construction in a timely manner.
  • Perform all functions required to promote and finalize sales, including estimating, conceptual design, proposal writing, presentations, and contract negotiations and review.
  • Prepare budget projections and control costs within agreed-upon limits.
  • Provide letters, proposals, memos, contracts, change orders, strategies, etc., for good business procedures and legal protection.
  • Ensure the project meets its schedule and project profitability goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all clients, vendors, subcontractors, and the industry.
Requirements
  • 5+ years’ experience managing HVAC and/or Plumbing construction projects, or years of experience in estimating, design, and management of projects from $50,000 to $25+ million.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, but not required.
  • MBA or master’s level educational degree and/or a current licensed PE are notable and a strong plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management abilities, employing strong organizational skills to respond successfully to a high volume of issues.
