Job summary

Bronswerk Marine is seeking a Project Manager Systems to lead HVAC installation projects aboard ships. You will manage resources, budgets and timelines while ensuring clear communication with the client and internal teams.

The role emphasizes design leadership, cost control and coordination with Product Engineers. A strong PM background in ship installations and English communication is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 8+ years in HVAC system engineering design or operating/maintaining HVAC systems.
  • Experience in an engineering-related firm is an asset.
  • Experience in project managing Ship Installations/Refurbishment; good PM software knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of project finance and cost control.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; strong organizational ability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage HVAC installation projects with specified goals, timelines and budgets.
  • Develop HVAC designs for onboard spaces and prepare related calculations.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers and Packaging teams to align deliverables.
  • Monitor progress, cost, quality and customer satisfaction; manage changes.
  • Serve as primary customer contact and manage risk and scope.
  • Negotiate and assist with contract delivery and changes as needed.
  • Direct Installation Managers across yards and resolve technical issues.

Job description

What will be your role?

Reporting to the General Manager, the Project Manager Systems will manage the human, financial and operational resources necessary to meet contractual and company related obligations of the project to ensure profitability. The Project Manager will provide day-to-day leadership for the members assigned to the team and ensures ongoing communications with the customer. He will actively participate in the execution of the project and interact with the project team and the client to ensure open communications. The incumbent will monitor quality of the system solution as well as the timelines and costs to ensure contractual obligations are respected.

Project Management and Direction:
  • Manage installation projects ensuring goals, timelines, resources, material and budget are aligned.
  • Develop appropriate HVAC designs for the different spaces onboard ships including all supporting calculations.
  • Select appropriate system components based on the design and calculations.
  • Prepare professional drawing packages (single lines, double lines, installation, and equipment drawings).
  • Resolves installation issues in a timely manner, ensures that change and requirements are understood, documented, communicated, costed and applied.
  • Responsible for the quality of deliverables and installations.
  • Monitor progress, earned value, deliverables and acceptance plans against plans and mitigate issues when they arise.
  • Monitor time & technical activities of projects and ensure that deliverables meet contract requirements ensuring customer acceptance is achieved.
  • Coordinates supplier’s deliverables with project timelines and ensure quality.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers and Packaging teams to ensure their deliverables are aligned with the project requirements (design requirements and timelines & budget).
  • Lead and support Installation Managers located in different yards and provide assistance in overcoming technical, supply chain and client issues.
Customer Management:
  • Acts as the primary point of contact with the customer.
  • Maintains communications with customer on project progress, issues and risks at all levels of the organization.
  • Manages scope and change requests in a proactive manner.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction and address concerns.
Contract Management:
  • Monitor contract delivery (i.e., specifications, costs and customer satisfaction)
  • May assist in the development and negotiation of contractual agreements and/or change requests
Which candidate profile are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • More than 8 years of experience in HVAC system engineering design or experience operating/maintaining HVAC systems
  • Relevant experience in engineering-related firm (an asset).
  • Experience in project managing Ship Installations/Refurbishment; good working knowledge of PM software
  • Good knowledge of project finance and cost control
  • PMP certification (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with strong relational skills (English)
  • Excellent organization skills and capacity to juggle multiple tasks and resources
  • Excellent business acumen for long term development is highly desirable
