Job summary

WM in Topeka, KS, is seeking a logistics and compliance professional to plan and direct onsite waste storage, transport, and disposal operations at client sites, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

You will lead onsite personnel, coordinate with clients and vendors, and oversee safety training and performance metrics, using CRM and scheduling tools to track requests and resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED and 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years of relevant work experience (in addition to the education requirement)
  • HAZWOPER Certification upon hire
  • RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience upon hire
  • OSHA 24-Hour Certification upon hire
  • Pre-assignment drug/alcohol testing may be required by customer contracts
  • Must be able to live and work in the U.S.

Job description

Job Summary

Plans and directs all onsite activities at client location in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state & local regulations. Manages and plans activities of onsite personnel. Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues and contract management. Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.

  • Consult with client to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities and proposals.

  • Establish clear communication channels with team and subcontractors. This includes using tools like email, chat and video conferencing to stay in touch and provide updates and have a system in place for tracking requests and keeping everyone informed of any changes or updates.

  • Prioritize urgent requests which may involve working with subcontractors to schedule services quickly and efficiently and communicating with customers to keep them informed of any delays or changes to their service.

  • Use technology to streamline processes which may include using a customer relationship management (CRM) system to manage requests or using scheduling software to coordinate services with subcontractors.

  • Provide excellent customer service which includes being responsive, proactive, and helpful to customers, including taking ownership of issues that arise and working diligently to resolve them as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  • Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting. Resolve all issues in a timely manner.

  • Administer client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts.

  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.

Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • 2 years of relevant work experience (in addition to the education requirement)

  • HAZWOPER Certification Upon Hire and

  • RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience Upon Hire and

  • OSHA 24-Hour Certification Upon Hire and

  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing. Upon HireMust be able to live and work in the U.S.

  • Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $67,800 - $86,500. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
