Job summary

WM is seeking an experienced manager to plan and direct complex waste management operations at client sites, ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards. The role includes coordinating onsite personnel or contractors, liaising with clients and vendors, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to improve EBIT.

Qualifications

  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements
  • Testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, measure, and track personnel daily responsibilities and activities.
  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.
  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.
  • Consult with client to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with WM client and government regulations by reviewing necessary inspections and reporting.
  • Review and comprehend client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts.
  • May occasionally be required to perform labor-intensive activities (e.g., drum collection and bulking).

Job description

I. Job Summary

Plans and directs all onsite or remote activities at highly complex client location(s) with revenues over $4MM, in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of multiple hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state and local regulations. Manages and plans activities of onsite personnel or third-party contractors. Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues and contract management. Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues. Identify regulatory, business, personnel concerns, develop and implement processes and solutions.

Expectation is to be available 1 weekend/month for on-call emergencies.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage, measure, and track personnel daily responsibilities and activities. Coordinate team assignments, roles and responsibilities to ensure compliant and efficient completion of work responsibilities.

  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations. Ensure that all team members maintain up to date certifications and training.

  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.

  • Consult with client to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities and proposals.

  • Ensure compliance with WM client and government regulations by reviewing necessary inspections and reporting. Identify areas of risk and develop and implement corrective actions. Resolve all issues in a timely manner.

  • Review and comprehend client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts. Enact changes and processes to maintain contractual compliance while optimizing EBIT.

  • May occasionally be required to perform labor-intensive activities (e.g., drum collection and bulking).

III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in job related field, or in lieu of degree

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited), and 4 years of relevant work experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience is required (in addition to education requirement)

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements and

  • Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.

B. Preferred Qualifications
  • Client facing (majority of the role is problem solving customer complaints)

  • People management experience

  • Prior management of people acrss multiple locations

  • Heavy equipment management 20+ PIT equipment

  • Background in Industrial Cleaning/Spill Response/Emergency Managmenet/Sustainability or Regulatory Compliance

  • Data Interpretation

  • Hands-on waste management (chemical sortation)

Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
