Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary

The Project Manager/Estimator’s primary duty is to bid and secure construction projects. Once projects are awarded, the Project Manager/Estimator manages the contract work from start to finish, including scheduling, cost containment, monitoring progress, compliance, and client contact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Seek out and complete bid opportunities through client relationships, networking, public/private postings, and other means.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with current clients and establish relationships with potential future clients.
  • Estimate projects for bid submittal by reviewing plans and specifications, calculating quantities, gathering quotes, and constructing the bid.
  • Coordinate pre‑construction meetings for awarded projects to ensure communication between project managers, field, and office support.
  • Work with operations staff to coordinate construction methods and staffing needs.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licensing.
  • Manage costs by tracking labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Manage billing with Project Coordinators to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payables, and oversee accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensure compliance with EEO/DBE project requirements.
  • Maintain project safety, budget, and schedule within the required time frame.
  • Troubleshoot project issues using appropriate resources.
  • Seek approval for all change orders before work is completed and manage scope changes to maintain profitability.
  • Coordinate efforts and communication with the project owner and general contractor to facilitate safe and timely completion.
  • Keep leadership informed on all matters of relative importance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with construction bidding and project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with MS Teams is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills for all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to present information to top management, clients, and public groups.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to seek counsel when needed and utilize available resources.
  • Ability to develop and nurture lasting client relationships.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays to jobsites outside of the office location area (approximately 10%).
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time (50%+). The employee is regularly required to use a computer/laptop in an office environment, navigate between office floors, and occasionally attend off‑site meetings. The employee may encounter high noise levels, but hearing protection is provided/required.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an office environment with required jobsite travel. The employee frequently works alone and with others, and may be exposed to variable work conditions including moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment, electrical hazards, and environmental factors such as rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: $100,000 – $133,500, depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
