Job summary

CapMetro is seeking a Project Manager in Civil Engineering to lead and oversee projects from initiation through completion. You will coordinate a dedicated project team, manage risk, scope changes, and financials while ensuring quality and effective communications with stakeholders.

The role requires an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree (or Master’s) with related post-graduate experience and a passing FE exam, along with strong communication skills and public engagement ability.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 2+ years civil experience.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with 1 year civil experience.
• Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Strong written and oral communication, plus ability to write letters and docs.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management for Minor to Moderate projects.
• Ensure product quality and manage project communications.
• Identify and manage risk; coordinate with project team to minimize risk.
• Manage project scope changes, disputes, and project finances.
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

Job description

This position exists to provide project management responsibilities for projects or tasks ranging from Minor Projects to Moderate Projects for the Metropolitan District. The responsibilities of this position include the management of the quality of the products produced, organization of a project management team and providing leadership for the team to ensure the completion of the products or tasks, managing the communications specific to the project or task; including both internal communications and external communications, managing the risk associated with each project and coordination with the project team to minimize risk and/or manage the risk, management of the scope of the project and the process to change the scope, manage the process to resolve disputes, and manage the financial aspects of the projects or tasks. This position will be responsible for multiple projects at one time.

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university AND two years post-graduation civil engineering work.

OR

A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university or equivalent AND one year post-graduation civil engineering work.

AND

A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

• Human Relations skills that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, businesses, elected officials and other governmental organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, presentations and answer project specific and policy questions and to write letters and other documentation.
