Job Description: Project Manager

Reports to: Senior Project Manager/Principal

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Execution: Identify design criteria and execute effective designs that exceed client expectations.
  • Client Interface: Direct client interactions and spearhead plan processing with public agencies.
  • Business Development: Engage in marketing, lead finding, and pursuing new work opportunities.
  • Administrative and Financial Tasks: Manage invoicing, budget monitoring, proposals, change orders, timecard approvals, and attend required meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop schedules and coordinate the design team's workflow with the Sr. Project Manager.
  • Supervise plan preparation, technical reports, cost estimates, and client deliverables.
  • Ensure high-quality, cost-effective designs that meet agency and client standards.
  • Oversee direct contact with agencies, plan processing for approval, and resolve design problems.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants (geotechnical, landscape, plumbing, architect) and internal departments (survey, mapping, water quality).
  • Conduct site investigations and research for proposals, designs, and marketing materials.
  • Visit construction sites to ensure plan conformity, resolve discrepancies, and respond to RFIs.
  • Provide workload forecasts and communicate resource needs to the Sr. Project Manager.
  • Conduct staff reviews, provide coaching/training, and ensure timely submission of employee timecards.
  • Track project budgets, provide billing instructions, and handle change order requests.
  • Implement and promote new ideas and procedures incorporating Full Circle Thinking.
  • Represent the company in client and agency meetings.
  • Attend seminars and classes, submitting written evaluations and key changes for implementation.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise 1-5 employees within the Engineering Team in coordination with the Principal or Sr. Project Manager.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of ten years of civil engineering design experience.
  • At least 3 years as the central design figure for a team, with experience in mentoring and overseeing project workflow.
Certifications
  • EIT certification required.
  • PE license or the ability to obtain it within two years of hire/promotion is required.
Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Noise level is usually quiet.
