Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction & Facilities EH&S Lead to support a major pharmaceutical expansion initiative in the Greater Boston area.

This role partners closely with Facilities Operations and Project Management teams to ensure Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) excellence across construction and operational activities.

The EH&S Lead will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs that support construction projects, facility operations, and long-term sustainability goals.

This individual will serve as a key liaison between project stakeholders and contractors to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement technical safety initiatives that support operational efficiency and on-time project delivery.
  • Lead contractor and construction safety programs, including Permit-to-Work systems.
  • Serve as the EH&S liaison for site expansion and construction projects.
  • Support and enhance the site’s EHS Management System.
  • Conduct risk assessments and proactively identify enterprise-level risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, resolve compliance concerns, and address regulatory inquiries.
  • Align site EH&S practices with enterprise standards.
  • Promote environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with facilities, operations, and project teams.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide leadership in critical situations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (required)
  • 7+ years of progressive EH&S experience (rate aligned to experience level)
  • Direct experience in pharmaceutical or biotech environments
  • Strong construction safety experience
  • Working knowledge of Safe Work Permit systems
  • Experience designing and implementing EHS Management Systems
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in research laboratories, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical facilities
  • EHS certifications such as:
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Demonstrated experience with risk mitigation, hazard identification, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across organizational levels.
Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is between $90.00 and $95.00 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
