Job summary

Avid Bioservices in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to lead site EHS programs, drive risk controls, and ensure regulatory readiness. You will partner with Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, and People to manage complex EHS issues and guide cross‑functional actions to completion.

The role requires 8+ years in EHS within regulated manufacturing or biotech, strong regulatory knowledge, and on‑site availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, or related field.
• 8+ years of EHS experience in regulated manufacturing/biotech/pharma environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of occupational safety and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience leading risk assessments, audits/inspections, investigations, and EHS training.
• Ability to analyze regulatory information, communicate risk, and maintain records.
• Ability to work on-site and respond to time-sensitive EHS matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain site EHS programs, procedures, and controls for compliance with environmental, health, safety, and biosafety requirements.
• Serve as the primary site EHS technical resource to leaders and employees.
• Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and management‑of‑change for facilities and processes.
• Plan and conduct site inspections, audits, and regulatory-readiness activities; document findings and close actions.
• Lead investigations of injuries, illnesses, near misses, and environmental events using root‑cause methods.
• Maintain EHS records, permits, plans, reports, and metrics; communicate risks to site leadership.
• Develop and deliver EHS training and communications for consistent site-wide understanding.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, Security for preparedness and continuity.
• Provide input for contractors, vendors, capital projects and new processes to address risks.
• Mentor staff on EHS practices and drive continuous improvement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or related field

8+ years of EHS experience
