Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex initiatives across public and private sector clients. You will drive projects from initiation through closure, managing scope, budgets and cross-functional teams in a hybrid delivery environment.

Role requires experience across full lifecycle, strong stakeholder management, and excellent communication skills. The role includes security screening, potential DV/SC considerations, and opportunities for professional growth

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities
  • Lead projects from initiation and planning through to implementation and closure.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines and success criteria.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules and milestones.
  • Manage project budgets, resources and forecasts to ensure effective financial control.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Establish effective project governance, reporting and controls.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure clear ownership of project activities and deliverables.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, risks and issues.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops and governance forums as required.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed milestones, scope, budget and quality requirements.
  • Manage changes to project scope through an appropriate change-control process.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately and effectively.
  • Work with suppliers and third-party partners where required, managing deliverables and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes and ways of working.
  • Ensure appropriate testing, implementation and transition activities are completed.
  • Lead project closure activities, including lessons learned and handover to operational teams.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant organisational policies, standards and governance requirements.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale projects within a complex organisation or client environment.
  • Strong experience across the full project lifecycle, from initiation through to implementation and closure.
  • Demonstrable experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including engagement with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary and/or geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with ambiguity, competing priorities and changing requirements.
  • Experience working within Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of project governance and delivery controls.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.
