Siboney Contracting Co. is seeking a Regional Project Manager to locate, estimate, and evaluate hauling projects, ensuring contractor satisfaction and timely collection of receivables.

The role may supervise several staff, including a dispatcher, and requires travel to remote job sites and to meet with customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will be familiar with DOT regulations, heavy truck operations, and local market conditions, with multilingual ability a plus.

  • Attend corporate meetings and provide weekly reports to management.
  • Assist in preparing budgets for the assigned area.
  • Oversee and assist with verification and collection of project tickets.

Job description

Primary responsibilities for a regional project manager include locating,estimating, and evaluating new hauling projects, ensuring that projects are executed to the satisfactionof the contractor, and collection of outstanding accounts. The area managermay supervise several employees, including a dispatcher, and other staff required to recruit new motorcarriers and independent owner-operators, and ensure compliance with company safety standards. Moderatetravel may be required to become familiar with remote job sites and road conditions, as well as salescalls to customers and material suppliers at their offices, projects and places of business.

A successful candidate for the project manager position should have computerskills including experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as the ability to use webbased company management software and tools. He/she should be familiarwith heavy truck operations and DOT regulations in the geographical area in which they are assigned.Local knowledge of competitors, contractors, motor carriers, and local market conditions are a plus.Familiarity with aggregate materials,testing procedures and quality standards is desired. Familiarity with government project biddingprocedures is also a plus.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Search for project leads via direct customer contact, customer RFP programs, and internet bidding platforms including Construction Data Services, municipal, and federal websites.
  • Report information to the territory manager and senior management regarding owner operators/motorcarriers, trucks, equipment, pits/quarries, and customers (collectively, “Resources”)
  • Forge new relationships and maintain existing relationships with project Resources.
  • Source and locate current, existing and potential aggregate material sources.
  • Verify, update, manage, and ensure accuracy of dispatched Resources throughout the workday.
  • Attend (in person or telephonically) corporate meetings and provide weekly report to territorymanager and Senior Management.
  • Assist territory manager and CFO in preparing budgets for the assigned area.
  • Oversee, manage and assist with the verification, collection, and reconciliation of project tickets to the corporate office
  • Implement and enforce the use of the iBulk mobile App with Motor Carriers, ensuring that MotorCarriers accept dispatch, and upload tickets daily
  • Assist Accounts Receivable Department in collecting outstanding accounts receivable
  • Communicate frequently with customers, quarry/pit personnel and owner operators/motor carriers in a tactful and respectful manner to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Maintain and foster professional working relationships with our customers, quarry/pit personnel and owner operators/motor carriers at all times.
  • Available to respond to communication with Resources outside of normal working hours.
  • Dress in business casual work attire. This includes collared/button down shirt, jeans/pants/khaki's, and boots. Appropriate PPE including hard hat, boots and safety vest are required at all project sites, and in company vehicles when applicable
  • Conduct regular tailgate safety meetings with Resources, and practice safe procedures in all aspects of the workday. Mandatory attendance of safety/project orientation classes conducted by customers. This also includes truck inspections and badging which may be required on specific projects
  • Report all incidents/accidents to territory manager, safety director and senior management immediately
In addition, an Area manager should have the following:
  • Excellent interpersonal and sales skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time
  • Valid driver license with good driving history
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some overtime and weekends
  • Familiarity with construction job site safety procedures
  • Skill to recognize and advocate for the motor carrier and company when unexpected conditions arise during a project
  • Familiarity with basic bookkeeping and business operations
