Job summary

Gensler in Washington, D.C. is seeking a licensed Architect to lead and coordinate design development through construction documentation for sports and recreation projects.

You will translate sketches into realized 2D/3D models, leverage Revit for concept through build, and collaborate with the team to resolve complex technical and design issues. You will coordinate with consultants, vendors, and clients, ensure documentation quality, and oversee submittals and RFIs.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect or NCIDQ certification required.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program required.
  • 5-10 years of related experience, including demonstrated success and/or interest working on sports projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software.
  • Full knowledge of architectural principles/practices.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures.
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post-occupancy.
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
  • Well-rounded, strategic thinker with an integrated approach to design, management, and technical project resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Sports team to deliver informed project solutions based on market expertise and an understanding of client goals.
  • Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
  • Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions
  • Direct production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks
  • Responsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality
  • Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project
  • Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project
  • Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design Manager
  • Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships

Your Role

As a GenslerArchitect, you will collaborate with our design team to develop innovative design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized2D/3Dmodels and images and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise.You will leverage your technical acumen and Revit skills to drive client projects from concept through build in a collaborative team. Your role is critical in the design and delivery of world‑class projects. This role is not remote, we look forward to working with our new Designer team member in our Washington, D.C., office.

  • The estimated base salary range for this position in the Washington, D.C. is $76,000- $110,000, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation is contingent on location and relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
