Position Overview

Project Manager – oversees design and construction of projects at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all pre‑construction activities for medical center projects developed by outside consultants or internally.
  • Oversee planning and design consultants, ensuring compliance with medical center standards, project program statement, and user requirements.
  • Provide technical review of designs during all phases to ensure conformance with regulatory requirements (City, State, OSHA, ADA, JCAHO, EOC, ILSM, IDPH).
  • Solicit, evaluate, and summarize proposals and recommend appropriate contractors, consultants, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Participate in planning and programming processes on projects.
  • Develop budgets, detailed estimates, and schedules for design, construction, and certification phases.
  • Administer the construction phase: initiate contracts and purchase orders, oversee activities of architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and users, and monitor budget and schedule.
  • Maintain and report to the Senior Director on project activities, schedules, budgets, and other items.
  • Obtain all internal, state, and local project reporting reviews, permits, and inspections required by OSHA, ADA, JCAHO, EOC, ILSM, IDPH, and City of Chicago.
  • Coordinate all internal and external operations functions (Facility Operations, IT, EVS, Security, Infection Prevention & Control, and other support services) for each project.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in construction, project management, and plant operations).
  • Knowledge of design and construction procedures in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in building design, construction, cost estimating, and project scheduling.
  • Experience with project management tools and computer skills (Excel, Word).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Education & Pay

Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
Salary range: $93,600.00–$154,440.00.
