Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Civil/Deep Foundations Project Manager to lead existing projects and pursue new opportunities. The role requires travel and proven experience with structural bridges, piling, shoring and deep foundations.

You will supervise teams, manage budgets, and ensure safety standards on site, with opportunities for growth, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management or Construction Management plus a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years on Industrial/Heavy civil/Deep Foundation projects.
• Minimum of 7+ years of concrete construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall management direction for existing projects and develop new business opportunities relative to a Client or group of Clients, area or project type.
• Plan, organize and manage materials, equipment and subcontractors; establish objectives and schedules.
• Monitor and control construction to ensure on-time completion within budget; oversee on-site Superintendents and labor negotiations as needed.
• Represent the company in project meetings and manage financial aspects to protect profit and maintain Client relationships.
• Review project costs and final performance with upper management after project completion.

MUST be willing to travel.

Must have experience with Structural Bridges, Piling and Shoring, and Deep Foundations.

Position Description

Provide overall management direction for existing projects and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular Client, group of Clients, geographical area or type of project.

1. Plan, organize and manage materials, equipment and subcontractors.
2. Establish project objectives, schedules, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
3. Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
4. Represent company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
5. Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client. Is responsible for the overall profit and loss of each job and proactively seeks profit opportunities on all projects.
6. Monthly tracking of profit and loss on all jobs.
7. Weekly tracking of Labor performance on all jobs.
8. Handle all correspondence with Owner and Subcontractor.
9. Ensure acceptable “Contractor Performance Rating” scores for each job.
10. Create a positive image for company by managing quality control on projects.
11. Uphold & maintain all Safety policies and standards on all Projects.
12. Review & finalize project costs & adjustments upon project completion.
13. Review job performance with upper management after completion.

Position Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities

1. This position supervises all workers on their projects through Project Superintendents as well as the work of Project Coordinators.
2. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college, technical school or university in Engineering, Business Management or Construction Management plus a minimum of five years of experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. A minimum of 5 years of working on Industrial/Heavy civil/Deep Foundation projects.
4. A minimum of 5 years of supervising Concrete projects as a Project Manager.
5. A minimum of 7+ years of concrete construction experience.
6. A minimum of 7 years of work experience and understanding of all phases of heavy concrete construction.
7. A minimum of 7 years of reading blueprint and specs for Industrial/Heavy Commercial Concrete projects.
