About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing commercial general contractor is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to its Midwest team. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned construction professional who wants to take ownership of projects with an established contractor that has expanded its footprint nationally while continuing to invest heavily in its people and operations.
The company has built a strong reputation across retail, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, industrial, and commercial construction, with experience ranging from ground-up construction and site development to complex renovations and interior buildouts.
This position will have significant responsibility for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout while working closely with owners, architects, subcontractors, superintendents, and internal leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
- Take ownership of project budget, schedule, contracts, quality, and overall execution
- Review plans, specifications, scopes, and contract documents for accuracy and completeness
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders
- Manage subcontractor buyout, scopes of work, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications
- Monitor project costs and identify potential budget or schedule issues before they become problems
- Partner closely with the Superintendent to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality expectations
- Review and negotiate subcontractor proposals and change orders
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
- Assist with preconstruction, estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews when needed
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards
- Participate in project turnover and closeout activities
Qualifications
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and project controls
- Experience with ground-up construction, renovations, tenant improvements, or commercial buildouts
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong financial and contract management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Comfortable working directly with owners, clients, architects, subcontractors, and field personnel
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
- Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree preferred but not required
