Job description

Project Manager – Commercial Electrical

Location: Kansas City, MO

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, and manages electrical construction projects, ensuring safety, profitability, timeliness, high quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identifies and generates new business, networking and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Promotes a positive company culture through friendly and constructive employee relations.
  • Works with the Purchasing Department and vendors to coordinate effective material procurement.
  • Attends all required internal and external project meetings (e.g., ORM’s, staff meetings, jobsite coordination meetings).
  • Participates in field staff performance reviews; conducts employee performance reviews, coaches employees, and establishes merit wage increases.
  • Manages all aspects of project documentation including submittals, RFIs, contract drawings, and communications.
  • Negotiates subcontracts, generates scopes of work, and initiates the internal process for subcontract generation.
  • Manages sub-tiered subcontractors to ensure accurate, safe, and high‑quality work while maintaining performance standards.
  • Cooperates with and technically assists field personnel.
  • Prepares change order requests, project reports, and documentation.
  • Reviews daily reports generated by foremen and approves time entered by foremen.
  • Consistently walks jobsites with foremen and crew to verify progress, quality, and safety.
  • Assists in pre‑construction as required.
  • Establishes the project budget and manpower forecast with the foreman/superintendent.
  • Completes monthly financial projections and reviews them with the Vice President of Operations.
  • Reviews project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, budget, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Establishes work plans and staffing for each project phase.
  • Directs project personnel, outlines duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Coordinates activities to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepares status reports and modifies schedules as required.
  • Keeps the Vice President of Operations informed of project status and needed changes.
  • Oversees the project budget and approves all expenditures and change orders.
  • Serves as primary liaison between the company, general contractors, and suppliers.
  • Consults with pre‑construction and estimating teams for smooth transition from bid to construction.
  • Supervises field superintendents and foremen, providing performance feedback to the Vice President of Operations.
  • Oversees the final approval and letter‑of‑occupancy process with builder/general contractor.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Construction, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, or 5 years of electrical field experience with 1 year of electrical estimating experience.
  • Travel: 20%‑50%, as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ProCore, BlueBeam, and other relevant computer programs.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams, think creatively and analytically, and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Electrical field experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or Vista is preferred but not required.

Salary Range: $100,000‑140,000
