Job description

This is an opportunity to join a nationally ranked Top 50 general contractor as they continue building out a new Central Texas operation in San Marcos. The company has more than 2,000 employees, a strong Texas presence, and the resources of a major contractor, but this office is still early enough in its growth that the right Project Manager will have real visibility and the opportunity to help shape the team as they expand throughout the Austin–San Antonio corridor.

They have upcoming work across education, industrial, public safety, commercial, retail, hospitality, and other public-sector projects and are looking for a Project Manager who can take full ownership of projects from preconstruction and buyout through construction and closeout.

This is a good fit for someone who wants to get away from being just another PM in a large office and have the opportunity to work closely with local leadership, take on meaningful responsibility, and grow into a larger role as the Central Texas division expands.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage ground-up commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
  • Own project budgets, forecasting, schedules, buyout, subcontractor agreements, change orders, and owner billing
  • Lead communication with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Work closely with the Superintendent to manage schedule, quality, safety, procurement, and overall project execution
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change management, and project documentation
  • Lead owner/architect meetings and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project
  • Identify issues early and work with the project team to keep projects on schedule and within budget
  • Help establish processes, relationships, and the long-term presence of the growing Central Texas office
What They're Looking For
  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
  • Previous experience managing projects as a Project Manager or strong APM ready to take the next step
  • Ground-up experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with education, municipal/public, industrial, healthcare, commercial, or other institutional projects is highly relevant
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, subcontractor management, and construction operations
  • Someone who can operate independently but still enjoys working closely with the field and project team
  • Local ties to San Marcos, New Braunfels, Kyle, Buda, Seguin, San Antonio, or the surrounding Central Texas market are a plus
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Join a Top 50 national contractor with the stability and resources to support major projects
  • Get into the Central Texas operation early rather than joining an office with layers of PMs ahead of you
  • Diverse project pipeline instead of being locked into one construction sector
  • Strong self-perform builder culture with in-house capabilities across concrete, earthwork, utilities, steel, and carpentry
  • Opportunity to work directly with the leadership team responsible for growing the San Marcos operation
  • Clear potential to grow into Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, and leadership-level responsibilities as the division expands
  • Company vehicle and fuel card
  • Bonus opportunity
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • PTO, paid holidays, and additional professional development opportunities

For someone who wants the backing of a large, established contractor but also wants the career upside of joining a growing operation early, this is a unique opportunity in the Central Texas market.
