Job summary

Reeves Young is seeking a Project Engineer and Assistant Project Manager to oversee construction projects from start to finish, adhering to the “Super Six” framework. You will train and support junior staff while coordinating with on-site senior management and subcontractors.

The role requires strong communication, proficiency with project tools, and the ability to manage schedules and budgets across multiple projects on site in Sugar Hill, GA. Competitive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communications skills.
• Willingness to learn and use project management software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, Bluebeam, ProCore/Project Sight, MS Project, Viewpoint).
• Ability to monitor and understand project financial status including subcontract/vendor status and overhead.

Responsibilities

• Be proficient and perform all roles of a Project Engineer and Assistant Project Manager while managing multiple projects.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement/buyout strategy and log to comply with Owner Contract requirements.
• Review project scope of work from drawings, specs, estimates, schedules and codes to plan, negotiate and coordinate hiring subcontractors and work with engineers, architects and vendors.
• Identify long lead time materials and update Management Tracking Log and Critical Path Schedule; meet weekly with team to document gains/losses to baseline.
• Develop a project business plan to maximize fee, minimize waste, plan buyout of trades, and set contingency and schedule improvements.
• Coordinate with supervisors to monitor progress, worker productivity, and compliance with codes.

What Can You Expect

• Be proficient and perform all roles and responsibilities of a Project Engineer and Assistant Project Manager while managing multiple projects dependent upon staff. Responsible for management of construction projects from beginning to end in accordance and maintaining the requirements of the "Super Six". Train and develop Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers and Interns and provide support to the on site Senior Project Manager.
• Develop and create a comprehensive procurement/ buyout strategy including the completion of the "Buyout Log" to comply with the requirements of the Owner Contract and the internal "90 Day" buyout completion target. This "Buyout Log" should be completed in draft form prior to contract execution with the involvement of the Preconstruction Team.
• Review and understand complete project scope of work based on contract requirements including: drawings, specifications, estimates, schedules and applicable building codes in order to plan, negotiate and coordinate all aspects of the construction process including hiring subcontractors and working with engineers, architects and vendors.
• Identify long lead time materials and plan accordingly through Management Tracking Log and Gantt Chart Critical Path Schedule. Meet and update regularly (weekly at a minimum) with team to document gains and losses to baseline schedule.
• Develop a comprehensive project business plan with the project team to maximize fee, minimize waste, strategize on buyout of trades, establish contingency, determine schedule improvements and fee enhancement opportunities.
• Confer with supervisors or other managers to monitor construction progress, including worker productivity and compliance with building and safety codes.

What You Bring to the Table

• Must be able to monitor and understand the overall financial status throughout the duration of a project including: subcontract status, vendor status, labor/payroll, small tools, construction equipment, material tracking log, miscellaneous materials and project overhead.
• Must possess working knowledge of or demonstrates a willingness to learn how to use the following software applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, Bluebeam, ProCore/Project Sight, MS Project, Viewpoint, Viewpoint Field Work Center
• Strong written and oral communications skills.
