Job description

Milliman's CMH Health practice has an opening for a Project Manager to manage large, cross-functional projects with clients in the health industry. We are looking for someone who has expertise in managing complex projects from start to finish and is eager to apply his or her skills to our rapidly growing entrepreneurial business.

Opportunity Highlights

The Project Management team works directly with Milliman Health professionals, clients, operations staff, and product teams to provide project management best practices, process improvement, and change management. Our projects involve diverse teams including pharmacists, doctors, actuaries, healthcare analysts, and data scientists.

The Project Manager is a team player who thrives in an environment of autonomy, comfortable with ambiguity, and adaptable to various project management methodologies. They handle challenging assignments with tenacity, decisiveness, and humility, delivering structured project management services for our key products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity, such as data sources, technical integrations, and new products.
  2. Apply and tailor project management tools and techniques based on project needs.
  3. Communicate project status effectively to all stakeholders.
  4. Develop a deep understanding of our business, products, clients, and internal teams.
  5. Lead process implementation and improvements.
  6. Create detailed project plans covering goals, priorities, deliverables, schedules, budgets, risks, and resources.
  7. Ensure accountability for project timelines and commitments.
  8. Document projects with an emphasis on process improvements.
  9. Facilitate communication across teams and translate technical language as needed.
  10. Work respectfully with clients and colleagues, valuing diversity.
  11. Contribute to the development of project management maturity within the organization.
Minimum Requirements
  1. At least five years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a project-based environment.
  2. Experience in the healthcare, pharmacy, or consulting industries is beneficial.
  3. Education, certifications, or training in economics, business, math, statistics, computer science, or information systems.
  4. Proficiency with project management software and methodologies, with a preference for Microsoft 365 applications.
  5. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Project Management Certification is preferred but not required.

Desired Competencies
  • Experience in a consulting environment.
  • Strong leadership, process development, and result delivery skills.
  • Proactive attitude and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Curiosity, self-drive, and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with HIPAA/PHI/PCI compliance and group presentation skills.

Location & Compensation

This role can be based in our offices in Brookfield, WI; Chicago, IL; Hartford, CT, or remotely within the US. The salary range is $104,900 - $207,720, depending on experience and qualifications.
