Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of civil construction estimating and/or project management experience.
• Experience with earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, site development, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of civil construction and field operations.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Prepare and review estimates, quantity takeoffs, bids, and project scopes.
• Review civil plans, specifications, drawings, and geotechnical information.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, engineers, inspectors, and owners.
• Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, schedules, change orders, and payment applications.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, contracts, project documentation, and closeout.
• Conduct regular site visits and support field operations.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
• Maintain strong client and project‑partner relationships.
• Support and mentor project staff.

Job Summary

A well-established Michigan-based general contractor with growing operations nationwide is looking for an experienced Civil Project Manager to join their team in Detroit. This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands how civil projects are estimated and built. You’ll oversee projects from estimating and preconstruction through field execution and final closeout, with responsibility for budget, schedule, safety, quality, and profitability.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Experience with DOT, municipal, infrastructure, or large‑scale site development projects
• Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
• Familiarity with GPS machine control and construction surveying
• PE, PMP, CM‑Lean, or related certification
