Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Michigan P.E. license or ability to obtain.
  • 5–10 years of civil engineering and land development experience, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, and roadways.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and standard engineering software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple civil engineering and land development projects from proposal through design, permitting, and plan approval.
  • Consult with clients to understand project goals, site requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead project planning, scope development, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Direct the preparation of site development plans, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, and permitting.
  • Coordinate with civil engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and other professionals to deliver projects.
  • Lead the development and quality review of site plans, grading plans, utility plans, and other engineering documents.
  • Manage project budgets, profitability, billing, and overall financial performance.
  • Prepare and negotiate proposals, contracts, and change orders.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and participate in business development efforts.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, municipalities, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Mentor and develop project engineers and staff.
  • Support QA/QC initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and support project development.

Job description

Are you an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager looking to lead impactful land development projects while building lasting client relationships and mentoring the next generation of engineers? PEA Group is seeking a collaborative, client-focused engineer to manage a variety of private land development projects throughout Michigan, including commercial, industrial, residential, healthcare, higher education, and mixed-use developments.

In this role, you'll lead multidisciplinary project teams, build strong client relationships, oversee project budgets and schedules, and help shape the communities where we live and work. What You'll Do
  • Manage multiple civil engineering and land development projects from proposal through design, permitting, and plan approval.
  • Consult with clients to understand project goals, site requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead project planning, scope development, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Prepare and negotiate proposals, contracts, and change orders.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and participate in business development efforts.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, municipalities, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout each project.
  • Mentor and develop project engineers and technical staff.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits during planning and design to evaluate existing conditions, coordinate with clients, and support project development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Licensure
  • Michigan Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or the ability to obtain one.
Experience
  • 1+ years of project management experience preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering and land development, including:
  • Grading and drainage
  • Stormwater management
  • Utility design
  • Roadway and pavement design
  • Construction administration
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Michigan design standards, permitting requirements, and municipal review processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and standard engineering software.

Schedule

Full-time

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional hours may occasionally be required to support project deadlines.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the workday to client meetings, project sites, and municipal agencies.
