Job summary

The State Group is seeking a Civil Project Manager to lead industrial and commercial construction efforts at our Buffalo, New York location. You will drive estimating, pre-construction, and closeout activities, while coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and field teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in construction PM/estimating, a strong ability to read multi-discipline drawings, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction project management and/or estimating experience.
  • Experience managing industrial and commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience preparing estimates, quantity take-offs, project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors, procurement activities, vendor relationships, and project contracts.
  • Knowledge of building systems including structural, building envelope, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organization, communication, negotiation, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage industrial and commercial construction projects from estimating and pre-construction through completion and closeout.
  • Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and project proposals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and oversee excavation, demolition, concrete foundations, flatwork, and structural steel construction activities.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, procurement activities, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel while monitoring productivity, quality, and performance.
  • Interpret drawings across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and shop drawings to support planning and execution.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress reports, and cost forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, quality standards, and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, conduct cost analysis, and drive projects to successful completion on time and within budget.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
  • 5+ years of construction project management and/or estimating experience.
  • Experience managing industrial and commercial construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation, demolition, concrete foundations, flatwork, and structural steel construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience preparing estimates, quantity take-offs, project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors, procurement activities, vendor relationships, and project contracts.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including structural, building envelope, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and time-management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from service and maintenance work to large multi-discipline turnkey projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and quality management systems; ISO 9001:2015 experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
