Job summary

ComEd is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead cradle-to-grave management of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) builds from Oakbrook Terrace, IL. The role requires coordinating cross-disciplinary field work and overseeing procurement milestones.

The position blends on-site 3 days weekly with remote work and occasional field visits, targeting a 12-month contract with possible extension. Strong PM skills and utility sector experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience in an electric utility setting.
• Proven end-to-end project delivery for build-outs.
• Experience with RFPs, scope changes, and vendor deliverables.

• 3 days in-office at 3 Lincoln Center, Oakbrook Terrace, IL
• 2 days remote/occasional field visits

Overview & Responsibilities

Join a leading energy utility managing high-impact infrastructure projects. This role oversees the completion of two primary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects before transitioning into broader utility infrastructure and advanced power quality metering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive full lifecycle project management ("cradle-to-grave") for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) build-outs.
• Oversee accompanying site infrastructure development, including overhead pole adjustments, fiber additions, underground boring, and cabinet/cable installations.
• Manage project procurement and administrative milestones, including RFPs, change orders (COCs), and budget tracking.
• Coordinate third-party engineering, testing, and commissioning contractors to ensure technical execution.
• Facilitate regular stakeholder alignment through scheduled field site visits and team reviews.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience within an electric utility setting.
• Proven track record as a Project Manager delivering end-to-end build-out projects.
• Hands-on experience managing project administration, including RFPs, scope change orders, and vendor deliverables.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary field construction work (e.g., civil, electrical, line work, fiber integration).
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet and Power BI.
