Job summary

BORJ Construction Management, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to manage municipal infrastructure projects for the LA County Public Library.

You will oversee day-to-day execution, timelines, and delivery of facility alterations and sustainability initiatives including solar and EV charging projects. Must have at least 5 years of progressive project management experience, with preference for candidates with design experience.

Qualifications

Duties

Public Works and Library is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to manage projects on behalf of the LA County Public Library, overseeing the day-to-day execution, timeline, and delivery of facility alteration and sustainability infrastructure projects, including Solar and EV charging projects. The Consultant shall champion the Library’s interests while coordinating with the project team and library staff, help identify project risks, and troubleshoot and resolve problems to ensure successful outcomes.

The Consultant shall possess at least 5 years of progressive experience managing municipal infrastructure projects through planning, design, jurisdictional approvals, environmental permitting, construction, and close-out. Candidates with design experience will be given preference.

• Deferred Maintenance/Refurbishment projects.
• Knowledge of Public Contracting Code and practices.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years (PM I) of project management and concurrent field construction experience.
• Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Work experience in project planning and development.
• Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project.
• Ability to develop and control project scope.
• Ability to develop and maintain project budgets.
• Ability to develop and review project schedules.
• Skilled in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents.
• Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
• Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders.

Education:

• Education background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
