Job summary

Pmaconsultants seeks a Project Manager III to independently manage small-to-medium construction projects in Worcester, MA. You will oversee planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination to deliver scope on time and within cost targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in construction or project management.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders including clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Proficient in project management software; Primavera P6 preferred.
  • On-site presence is required several days per week.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present project deliverables and manage risk.

Job description

The Project Manager independently manages small-to-medium construction projects or portions of larger programs. They oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination to ensure successful delivery in alignment with scope, cost, and timeline objectives. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams with minimal oversight. In addition to project execution, the Project Manager III supports contract administration, risk mitigation, and QA/QC processes. They serve as a key liaison among clients, contractors, and internal teams, helping to resolve issues, facilitate communication, and implement project management best practices across the organization.

Responsibilities
  1. Direct day-to-day construction project planning and execution to meet project design, schedule, and financial objectives.
  2. Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
  3. Establish and maintain project governance processes and PM tools.
  4. Conduct site supervision and provide QA/QC observations during construction and closeout phases.
  5. Coordinate architect and engineer responses to on-site concerns.
  6. Monitor project milestones, changes, and technical progress; develop recovery plans as needed.
  7. Liaise with owners, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve conflicts and align project goals.
  8. Support contract administration and third‑party vendor coordination.
  9. Lead project meetings and facilitate communication across teams.
  10. Mentor and provide oversight to junior staff, contributing to professional development.
  11. Identify risks, track project performance metrics, and recommend process improvements.
  12. Participate in the development of procurement documents and construction specifications.
  13. Assist in preparation and review of submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  14. Interface regularly with internal departments and external clients, ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field required.
  2. 5+ years of relevant experience in the construction or project management field.
  3. Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders including clients, contractors, and consultants.
  4. Proven ability to work independently and manage concurrent project tasks.
  5. Proficient in project management software; hands‑on experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
  6. Familiarity with submittals, RFIs, construction documentation, and procurement processes.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Ability to present project deliverables and facilitate team discussions.
  9. On‑site presence is required several days per week.
  10. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered in lieu of stated minimum qualifications.
Additional Requirements

Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.

Cognitive: Problem‑solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
