Job description

Construction Project Manager - Drive the Net-Zero Revolution!

Job: Construction Project Manager

Anticipated compensation: $110,000 - $160,000 (base salary + performance bonuses)

Existing buildings account for a large part of the worlds carbon emissions. At Millig Design Build, we are doing something about it.

We don't just manage construction - we are revolutionizing the way projects are delivered. We are a design-build firm specializing in turnkey facility improvements that strive to transform aging, energy-draining structures into high-performance, net-zero environments.

We've broken down the traditional silos between engineering, construction, and commissioning to eliminate finger-pointing, delays, and cost overruns.

If you are tired of the status quo and want to build projects that have a tangible impact on the climate and our clients' bottom lines, you belong with us.

How You Will Make an Impact

You won't just be pushing paper; you will be the boots-on-the-ground leader driving our integrated projects from concept through final commissioning. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-Construction & Strategy: Lead pre-construction planning, procurement, budgeting, and buyout to minimize risk while ensuring successful implementation. Drive strategic planning before mobilization and throughout construction. Own, document, and manage risks and opportunities from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Deliver Complex Builds: Ensure the on-time and on-budget delivery of large-scale, technically complex construction projects. Manage day-to-day project activities, including the procurement and coordination of materials and resources. Utilize innovative project management strategies to drive excellence.
  • Drive Financial & Contract Excellence: Expertly handle prime contract and change order management and execution. Lead subcontract negotiations, preparation, and change order management while maintaining accurate job cost projections.
  • Build Powerful Relationships & Lead: Develop a broad range of relationships with multiple trade subcontractors and design teams. Ensure strong stakeholder engagement and satisfaction with project outcomes. Coordinate and communicate progress seamlessly to stakeholders, including owner, architect/engineer, and contractor facilitation & management.
  • Elevate the Industry: Pursue and encourage others to participate in training and development opportunities within the company and using outside resources. Participate in professional associations for construction and pursue expanding professional networking relationships. (Other duties as required).
What You Bring to the Table
  • Education & Credentials: Degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field. Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP) is preferred.
  • Targeted Experience: 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems in commercial, institutional, and public sector facilities. Proven experience with Design-Build and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) methods, as well as managing projects in diverse environments and regulatory frameworks.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with energy efficiency, retro-commissioning, and mechanical and electrical systems, with a willingness to learn new solutions and technologies. Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications, backed by a solid understanding of construction techniques, materials, safety protocols, and relevant building codes. Strong understanding of Lean project delivery practices.
  • Advanced PM & Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and team-building abilities to inspire and motivate project teams. Expertise in advanced project management techniques, pre-construction, risk analysis, scope writing, and management. Excellent decision-making, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with strong financial acumen for budgeting and cost control. Ability to build, manage, and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Software & Logistics: Advanced proficiency in project management software (e.g., Premier, Procore, Microsoft Project, etc.) and highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Docs. Travel is required 20% of the time.
