Job description

Location: Remote with travel – Covering regional renewable energy project portfolios

Travel: 20% – 40% travel to project sites, manufacturing facilities, and client offices

Salary: $95,000 to $110,000 base

We are seeking a high-caliber Owner’s Engineering (OE) Project Manager to manage utility-scale solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), wind, substation, and transmission assignments. In this role, you will lead projects from early-stage development and design through construction oversight, commissioning, and final closeout.

In this position, you will serve as the primary client contact, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, field personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders to identify technical and commercial risks, manage deliverables, and ensure flawless execution.

The Successful Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • End-to-End Client & Project Ownership: Serve as the primary point of contact for OE clients. Develop and manage project execution plans, deliverable registers, responsibility matrices, master schedules, budgets, and action logs across multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Multidisciplinary Engineering Coordination: Coordinate internal engineering reviews across civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, SCADA, controls, and interconnection disciplines. Consolidate technical feedback into clear, defensible, client-ready reports, recommendations, and turnover documentation.
  • Construction & Field Oversight: Direct full-time and periodic field personnel, construction managers, and inspectors. Review field reports, punch lists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), test results, and commissioning records to ensure strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Commercial Management & Risk Mitigation: Track technical risks, contract scope, payment applications, schedule updates, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Monitor project financial performance, staffing utilization, and out-of-scope requests, preparing amendments as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Review Meetings: Lead kickoff meetings, design-review calls, construction updates, and executive management reviews. Maintain technical records sufficient to support financing, tax equity, lender, and owner reliance requirements.

The Successful OE Project Manager will have:

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of direct project management experience within utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, substation, or transmission projects. Prior consulting or client-facing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Depth: Practical working knowledge of utility-scale PV/BESS architectures, civil design, electrical studies, SCADA/controls, equipment procurement, applicable codes, and construction/commissioning sequencing.
  • Project Controls & Commercial Awareness: Proven capability managing project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverable quality across multiple simultaneous projects while recognizing out-of-scope work and consulting economics.
  • Written & Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to produce clear, defensible technical reports and translate complex engineering findings into actionable advice for owners, lenders, and executives.
  • Leadership & Mobility: Strong field leadership capabilities. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 20%–40% to project sites and energized facilities.
  • Work Authorization: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

The Successful Project Manager will ideally have these Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Structural) or Construction Management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP / CCM certification.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety training.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting RFP support, due diligence reviews, design reviews, and capacity/performance testing oversight.

The Successful Project Manager will receive:

  • Competitive base salary with merit-based performance increases and annual project-completion incentive/bonus plan participation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
  • Robust paid time off (PTO) policy, including vacation days, paid holidays, and paid parental leave.
  • A collaborative, dynamic, and diverse working environment focused on driving the global energy transition.
